Super Smash Bros. Brawl Subspace Emissary Part 31: The Great Maze, Part 1
Part 31 of our SSBB SSE Playthrough sees us enter the Great Maze. This is probably what most of you have been waiting on as it is the longest and most challenging portion of Adventure Mode…in part because it is essentially everything condensed into one “stage” if you will.
I do want to mention I had started the Great Maze and lost everything (only about 11 minutes) because of Windows Updates.Thank you Windows for messing up yet another video.I can’t tell you how annoying this is from my end.The update comes on in the background well in advance to showing up on your taskbar and kills the audio etc.A few minutes after dealing with that and you figure out why everything went to pot…
Anyway, you walk right into the Great Maze, take the only available door and immediately begin battling Petey Piranha. This is essentially how the game started if you think back on things. The battle with Petey is fairly straight forward…you just need to watch for the cages and dodge them when he swings and of course try not to get jumped on when he lands.
Defeat Petey and you can either backtrack to the Entry Point or take the Red Door to the Cloud World type level. You face Primids, Goombas, and Koopas as you head left (yes we headed left again, lol).Enter the Red Door with the black haze around it and you will battle a “Dark Pit.”He can be difficult at times, but just use your defense and try to stay centered if your damage level is high.Marth made quick work of him after Falco was lost.Exit back out and you can climb up for some Maxim Tomatoes and an item box with a Trophy.Drop down and exit back out…now continue right through more Primids, Koopas, and Goombas.
If you note, you can do like I did and exit through the entry door and get back to the main “Entry Point” and re-select your characters and save your progress.Anytime you do this, just backtrack to where you left off.
We come back to the Cloud level and were greeted by a Trulow…super annoying to say the least.I had a lot of trouble here for reasons unknown to me, but we made due.Head right after clearing that portion and battle a Giant Goomba.Take the next door right and enter to battle a Gleam.Go back to the left and collect a trophy from the Item Box.I backtracked at this point, unsure of if the Purple Platform would rise and keep us from heading back down.Subsequently we went back down and to the right to the Red Door with the Black Haze…this was a battle with “Dark Kirby.”This went really quick and I can’t complain.
Head back right and go up onto the Purple Platform. This will take you up (dodge the Jyks) and then enter the Red Door with Black Haze to battle Link.Link got the best of Marth and R.O.B so we had to continue. We came right back to battle Link, this time with a full set of four characters.I’d say these battles are usually what would be like the 5-7 range on standard brawls.Mario was able to take Link down and we exited to Hyrule, or at least that is what I am going to call it.
Head just right (I learned the hard way, and it happens time after time) to find the “save door.”I tried backtracking first and couldn’t get through the Purple Platform. This takes us to a “Save Point.”
Progress=72%
Bosses Battled: Petey Piranha, Pit, Kirby, and Link
Super Smash Bros. Brawl Supbspace Emissary Part 30: Subspace, Part 2
Part 30 of our SSBB SSE Playthrough has us continue in Subspace.
This time around our only playable character is Kirby. He was able to awaken after Tabbu obliterated the forces.
As soon as you enter, jump up and grab the Princess Peach Trophy.Continue right and deal with some Bombeds and Feyesh.Clear the mine trap and you can pick up the Princess Zelda Trophy.Try to clear a few mines to get the item box in the middle of the mine circle.Continue heading right and clear more mines to nab the Meta Knight trophy.Rather than tackle the Sword Primids go for their spawn point.Drop down, take care of any remaining Sword Primids and hit the item box for a trophy.
Move back up, take out the Scope Primid, grab his sticker, then enter the door.Hit the red Bomb Block to drop down and pick up the Link Trophy.Break the left Bomb Block to drop down.Break this left Bomb Block to nab the Yoshi Trophy.
Drop to the third platform and hit the Bucculus to score a Maxim Tomato.Break the right Bomb Block to grab Lucario’s Trophy.Drop down to a 5-tier platform an you will battle Spaak’s Fire Primids, and Armights.Defeat them all to earn an extra continue.Move quick because as soon as you pick it up you’ll start an auto-scrolling sequence.
Only take on the enemies you can, focus on staying on screen. When you stop you will battle an Autolance, Primid, and Scope Primid.Watch out for the Autolance as it can KO Kirby fairly easily.Defeat them all and continue rightward. You will see an ROB trophy right before a door.
This door takes you to an area with Shellpods and sleds.Avoid the sleds.Jump up and use the pink button to break ice blocks and get the Ice Climber Trophy. The item box will have a CD.Contine up and right until you can hit the pink button and land Marth’s Trophy.Take another step right and you’ll have to deal with two spawn points for Bytans and of course a Roturret.Try to get the spawn points and then the Roturret.
Take the Golden Steps up and prepare to Battle Tickens and the Gamyga.I’d suggest to go for the Gamyga first, and then the Tickens…maybe just jump to the right of the Gamyga to help it out…defeat it and collect two stickers.Continue right and you will land Wario’s trophy.
Enter the stage door and you will see Ganondorf’s Trophy…Bowser rushes in to abuse it.This is cut short as King Dedede comes in to hug Kirby, quite an uncommon sight. He drags Kirby towards the staircase.
Link and Zelda activate Ganondorf’s trophy and point him towards the staircase.Ganondorf is angry, but heads on anyway.
We now see Wario come in to take down King Dedede, who jacked his hovercraft. He is then stunned to see Luigi and Ness, last known to him to be trophies, help King Dedede up.They point him towards the staircase and after thinking things out and of course, picking his nose, Wario hops on his bike and motors up the staircase.
This clears the stage.
**Please note that I went back to clear to get Mr. Game & Watch who was in Part 29: Subspace, Part 1.I showed where he was located, how to obtain his trophy, and then the epic bonus footage of Kirby vs. Bowser in a David vs. Goliath showdown…which turned out to be one of the easiest Knockouts I have ever had, especially in the Subspace Emissary…I might make it a stand-alone at some point in the future, lol.
**I would also like to clarify that the Green Flags indicate a stage is clear, but not complete. The flashing crowns indicate the stage is 100% Complete.I had looked it up online and read the opposite. With my firsthand experience I can vouch for crowns=complete and flags=go back.
Trophies: Great Fox
Stickers: Kirby, Morris, Bullfrog, Stafy, and Free Ranger
Super Smash Bros. Brawl Subspace Emissary Part 29: Subspace, Part 1
Part 29 of our SSBB SSE Playthrough sees us pick up from a devastating blow in the Entrance to Subspace to Subspace.
We pick up at the Ruins where Luigi and Ness awake via the buttons from King Dedede.Luigi and Ness touch the base of his trophy to wake him up.King Dedede is ridiculously excited as he thanks them for saving him.He proceeds to direct them onward to Subspace. You can pick any of the three and will pick up with whichever characters you didn’t select.
As you move right you’ll have to take on some Bombeds and clear Glice.Make the short jump and you’ll score a Samus trophy.Enter the door and you can continue the quest moving up.Stop at the next door and you can pick up a Pit trophy.Towards the bottom you’ll score a trophy from the item box.Up towards the top is Falco.Exit back and continue going up.Lucas is on the platform near the top door.
Enter this door and go left.Clear the Big Primid and Bytans.Move all the way left to take out the spawn point and pick up another character trophy.Jump on the golden step to reveal some hidden steps.Continue up and you’ll see the Donkey Kong trophy.Move left and break the ice blocks, this reveals a hidden door.Pick up Pokemon Trainer and Pikachu, just be careful to land the trophy and maintain yourself ahead of the bomb sequence.Exit the door and continue right.
Make your way back up to where the two stairs meet and jump to the top step.Continue right and grab another character trophy (Marth I believe).Work carefully here as you’ve got a Roader or two to complicate things with the bevy of Mites present.Take the door and use a projectile attack to clear the mine trap.Grab the Fox and Olimar trophies, then continue right past the roader to the next door.
Entering this door will place you above dropping blocks, which isn’t bad until you encounter the Puppits.I missed this the first time, but you can continue down and right to clear the bomb block and collect the Mr. Game & Watch trophy.Head back up and take the door juts past the Roader and you’ll be in an auto scrolling portion, move quick and keep your eyes out for any trophies…make them a priority over messing with any enemies.Diddy Kong is located right above the door when you enter.Continue right and the camera goes in circles.Grab the trophy in the top right hand corner. You can now enter the door in the top right or bottom left corners…which is easier said than done with the camera circling wildly and the sheer number of Mites. They have a spawn poin t on the second tier that blends in with the background.
Take the right door and collect the Mario statue.Step on the platform and continue uphill to yet another door…this brings up a cut-scene.
King Dedede sees a Bowser trophy and Master Hand.Dedede battles Bowser in a heavyweight showdown.Defeat Bowser, touch his base again, and have him join forces with you, Luigi, and Ness. This clears the stage with the foursome looking onward past Master Hand to the staircase.
Super Smash Bros. Brawl Subspace Emissary Part 28: Entrance to Subspace
Part 28 of our SSBB SSE Playthrough sees us move on to the Entrance to Subspace.
We open with a major cut scene.A ship piloted by Ganondorf and Bowser emerges from a Subspace Void.It blasts a laser creating another Subspace port. Then, much to the baddies surprise, the Halbred emerges.Ganondorf commences an offensive onslaught and destroys it.
However, our heroes take their smaller ships and attack.Kirby comes in on a Warp Star and does a damning blow to the ship. The others follow suit, shooting at the ship before entering subspace. All of our heroes, almost that is, are present in Subspace.
You can now select 4 of 25 characters for the Entrance to Subspace.
When you enter this level it is almost like a psychedelic trip. The platforms are a sort of rainbow neon and the background is something like you would envision in deep space. The first jump pits you against a series of enemies.Clear that and you’ll be forced to auto-scroll.You’ll see all sorts of Primids, Borboras, and Shadyas.Clear them and you will progress right to yet another battle, this time with an Armank.
Continue right and you’ll be greeted by a Greap and several Big Primids.Clear these enemies and continue on your way right. The ground will soon disappear, but it is still present.Take the door and you’ll see a cut scene.
Ganondorf shoots Bowser from behind.Master Hand descends, but he is then constrained via puppet stings by Tabbu.Ganondor attacks and Tabbu turns him into a trophy.Master Hand is freed and counterattacks only to be shot down by Tabbu. All of our heroes rush in and are hit by the successive 3-tiered attack from Tabbu. This clears the stage.
Part 27 of our SSBB SSE Playthrough sees us pick up with the Subspace Bomb Factory. You get to select 4 characters from Donkey Kong, Captain Falcon, Diddy Kong, and Olimar.
Head right and battle the ROB and Autolance.Advance to find an ROB Launcher and then another Autolance…I found out that Autolances can shoot upward and at an angle…you learn something new every day.I cleared all the boxes and of course found NOTHING.Time your next jump based on when you can clear the Jyks.Take out the ROB Launcher and then drop down to hit the Bomb Block, but be quick to jump up or loose a life, like we did.
The next platform triggers a multiman brawl with several ROB Launchers and then some Metal Primids and an Autolance. The cameras here suck. When you jump to a rolling platform and the camera stays centered, it is hard to keep up with your character!Clear this and head right. One of the platforms has a hidden door.Enter it and jump up to find two Item Boxes containing 2 stickers and 2 heathmatoes.Hit the top spring and a trophy will fall down.Exit the hidden area and jump right, dodging the spikes, and you will find another door.
Enter the door and try to take care of, or dodge the buckots. The converyor belt moves left to right and features dropping spike walls to complicate your journey. As you continue right you’ll find a door that has to be triggered by a series of colored switches: Red, Blue and Green.
Go up and you will find the Red Switch.Make sure to drop down quickly to avoid the descending spikes.Jump up and to the left to trigger a multiman brawl with Floows and an Armight.Clear that, head left, and hit the Blue Switch.
Drop down, continue right and you will find the Green Switch.Head back left and climb the ladder…now you can enter the previously locked door.
Then the headset fell off…my apologies there.
Head right and take out the ROBs.Proceed carefully as the engine room we are in has blue flames that have a long duration. You’ll find a pink switch to kill it to the left.Head right and climb the ladder to hit another switch that will drop blocks. If you go left you can find another Item Box that contains a CD.
If you didn’t move quick enough you’ll have to make a long jump down.Climb the ladder and take the dropped down blocks. This triggers a battle with Bytans.Take the next ladder down to avoid the blue flames...skip the sled and take the following ladder up to hit the pink switch. Now take the sled to expedite your journey ahead of the flames kicking back on and burning you. You’ll get thrust to a platform that triggers a brawl with a Bytan. Once the upward motion comes you battle Fire Primids and more…continue up as the walls open again and take the ladder. To your right you’ll find a locked door.Head back left and break the farthermost block to find a key.Pick it up, clear the jumbo Bytans, and head to the door.
Continue right and you are taken to a cut-scene.
Donkey Kong knocks on the door, thus knocking it down lol, and we see Samus and Pikachu. That’s right, DK and the crew have made it to where Samus and Pikachu had found the Ancient Minister.Gannondorf appears in holographic form and commands the ROBs to detonate the bombs. The Ancient Minister moves to stop them, but Gannondorf makes them head for the bombs anyway. The Ancient Minister pulls two of them off, and then an angered Gannondorf has the ROB Sentries shoot him with lasers. This catches his clothes on fire and the ROBs head to activate the Subspace Bombs.
Our heroes try to keep them from detonating the sequence, but make no progress.Gannondorf laughs with delight and sends in an army of Auroros to combat our heroes. The Ancient Minister begins shooting them out of the sky and then the veil of clothing comes off and he is revealed as R.O.B.You can now select 4 out of the 7 brawlers.
You begin with a flurry of Auroros and Primids.Soon after Tickens come in and we see Sword Primids and Scope Primids drop in.The next entry is a Floow.Try to get them out as soon as possible.Next up is a trio of Nagagogs.Clear them and you’ll face a flock of Auroros and then more Sword and Scope Primids. The final two enemies are Armanks. These are kind of a pain to battle, and they KOd ROB.Captain Falcon came in to try and finish them off and made a lot of progress before getting KOd.Samus entered and finished them off.
We are now taken to another cut scene where we see virtually every ROB Sentry ready to detonate the Subspace Bombs. Our heroes take off to evade the imminent blast.
You can one again select 4 of the 7 for this escape. You drop down a chute and have to drop down as the camera auto-scrolls.Once again I had heck getting the characters to drop down.Clear the first portion and then pay careful attention to where the spikes are and what path to take. This will put you on a platform below blue flames.Drop down and use the rising purple platforms to navigate your way down.
Take the doora nd drop down…try to avoid the mines as best you can.Note that these purple platforms don’t go up.Head down and deal with the Fire Primids and Mites as you use ladders to clear everything.Continue down and following the direction the camera scrolls.Take the next door down. There is an Item Box on the Right with a Heart Container…a tell-tale sign of a boss battle!
I ended the playthrough here to prevent loosing the audio file…I started the new recording to find that it was indeed a boss battle, but it went pretty quick.Since it played out in that manner I just spliced the two parts together.I was under the impression the Subspace Bomb Factory was much more difficult and more time consuming than this…Anyway, back to the battle at hand.
After you’ve collected the Heart Containers from the Item Box, drop down the shaft. This triggers a cut-scene with all 7 Brawlers heading for Captain Falcon’s ship. They board and blast out of the Subspace Bomb Factory, but Meta Riddley shows up!You can once again select your 4 favorite brawlers.I went with the characters I ha he best luck jumping with.
The catch here is that you only have 2 minutes to defeat him. This tells me I need to forget about defensive strategies and dodging his attacks and just focus on doing as much damage to him as possible.R.O.B. is a great choice to battle him because of his hover ability.I lost R.>b with about a minute left.Captain Flacon came in and did a nice job finishing him off…we even had 18 seconds to spare, lol.Go ahead and run around as I think I heard myself pick up a trophy or sticker. This defeats Meta Ridley and got our band of 7 out just ahead of the explosion.
As Captain Falcon’s ship blasts off we see the Subspace Bomb suck in the surroundings and turn it into a void.Falcon pilots the ship to the canyon area where he lands with the Halbred just ahead of Mario’s group. This successfully clears the Subspace Bomb Factory and sets us up for the Entrance to Subspace.
Trophies: Smart Bomb
Stickers: Manaphy, Golden Fox, Gracie, Young Cricket, NingyourKouchuu Vigaru
CDs: Rainbow Road (It is a road it is the Rainbow Road, lol)
Super Smash Bros. Brawl Subspace Emissary Part 26: The Subspace Bomb Factory, Part 1
Part 26 of our SSBB SSE Playthrough sees us move on to the Subspace Bomb Factory.I had heard this one was pretty long and difficult so I decided to break it down.
We open with a cut-scene where Samus and Pikachu have entered and set off an alarm.
You proceed right and are naturally greeted by a lot of ROBs.Take the elevator down and go the first segment on the right.Clear the enemies and hit the Item Box to get a lot of food. When you go left you will get locked in and have to use the pink switch to open it.Go down the elevator and left. The dor will close pitting you against Shaydas and Glunders. There didn’t seem to be any real point in this area aside from being an inconvenience.
Head down the elevator and go left to reveal an Item Box with a gun and a door.If you backtrack right you’ll have another door close and be forced into battle with a Jyk and Borboras…I’m so sick of them at this point I just hit the switch and went back left through the door.
This drops you into a multiman brawl. There are a ton of Sword Primds as well as a few ROB Launchers.Watch out for the missiles and try to avoid being attacked from the backside.Defeat all the enemies and the platform drops revealing a door. Before entering go up and hit both Item Boxes to obtain two trophies…not a bad haul.
Exit out and hit the Item Box to grab a rocket launcher. Now hit the elevator and go down.If you head left you will have to deal with a Rotrurret and BorborasI was stoked to get a trophy base and got a Trophy of the Roturret! That had been on the to-do list for a while.
Head back to the right and clear the Bombeds.Continue right across the other elevator and you’ll find Big Primids…back out and take the elvevator up, go right and find another door. This one actually yields progress as it takes you to a new area.Ther are a lot of ROB Sentries, Blasters, and Launchers here.
Defeat them and go right…this will trigger a cut-scene where Samus and Pikachu jump out ofan exploding building. They walk out and are right in front of the Ancient Minister and a hoard of ROBs and a full stash of Subspace Bombs!Samus and Pikachu prepare for battle and we are greeted by the end of the stage, lol.
Super Smash Bros. Brawl Subspace Emissary Part 25: Battleship Halbred Bridge
Part 25 of our SSBB SSE Playthrough opens with a cut-scene where we see a bevy of Mr. Game & Watches knocked out of the cockpit by Snake, Lucario, and Meta Knight. They reassemble on the Halbred’s deck as Duon. Our trio jumps down after him to help Peach and Sheik and Falco shows up to join in the fun as well.
You can choose from any of the six characters.I went with Snake, Falco, Fox, and Peach.Duon’s attacks are strong, but there is usually a long lull between them. You can dodge his spin move pretty easy. When he rushes you he will spin his wheels beforehand. His jump and landing is also fairly easy to dodge. The laser beams are tough to dodge given the multiple angles they come from.He can also launch heat sinking missles.Fox got a metal box and made quick work of him.Again, anytime you defeat a boss in Adventure Mode, scurry about trying to pick things up, you might not always see it, but there is most likely a trophy or sticker to be had.
After Fox defeated Duon, he took the form of a Mr. Game & Watch trophy.Peach was quick to bring him back and when he started to attack she waved her finger and gave him her parasol. He pranced about in 8-bit fashion and made her giggle.Once again, Peach resolved a conflict with her happy-go-luck approach, lol.
The next scene sees Meta Knight head to the helm of the Halbred where he takes the wheel and steers the ship toward clearer skies.
Super Smash Bros. Brawl Subspace Emissary Part 24: Battleship Halbred Exterior
Part 24 of our SSBB SSE Playthrough moves out for the Battleship Halbred Exterior.Naturally, the two Princesses couldn’t hold their position so they set out to do some exploring of their own.
Sheik and Peach, who is insanely happy given her predicament, come out and exit the ship.I selected Peach first for her jumping ability. You basically come out and navigate a series of platforms while dealing with a ridiculously strong wind blowing right to left.I got too low looking for an Item Box and lost Peach. The same thing happened with Sheik.
The good news is this portion isn’t too long and you clear it quickly by entering a Red Door.Proceed in and contend with a few Mites and then some Mines. You can use Peach’s Beets to detonate the Mines or the pink switches to do so.Go right and up the first series of platforms against the wall. When you get to the top you will see three Item Boxes. The first has two stickers, the second has a Heart Container, and the third has a laser gun…not a bad haul! The laser gun is particularly useful for blasting the mines and clearing your selected path.Drop back down the way you came to avoid any unnecessary damage.
Now drop back down to your original entry point and continue right over the podium.Watch out for more Mites and a Poppant. As you advance there will be a Scope Primid and some more Mites.Continue right and take out the Scope Primid guarding the pink switch.
Move back left across the top platforms to find an Item Box with a continue.Hit the switch to retract a door blocking your path past a ditch.Move quick to avoid jumping into the closing door and plummeting to your death.Clear this segment and go through the next door. This area was strange and seemed more like it should have been a scene at the Research Facility than aboard the Halbred.IT was basically a series of glassed observation units with various enemies in them (Roader, Autolance, and a Scope Primid to name a few).Luckily you can just pass through and take the next door…I tried to harass them, but had no luck.
This door takes you to a multiman brawl with a few Scope Primids and lots of Primids.Somehow we lost Peach, but Sheik came in and took over.Clear the Primids and be careful as there is a Greap and a few Puppits to contend with now.Peach and Sheik are both light weights and easy for the Gleam to KO.
Continue right and take out a few Feyesh. You will notice an Item Box avove you.Jump up for a Maxim Tomato.Drop down for a Trophy from the lower Item Box.Continue on but be weary of the Greap.Jump to the next area and drop down onto the Buckot. This item box contains a rocket launcher.
Proceed slowly as there are blue flames that cycle on and off.The rocket launcher comes in handy for taking out Buckots.Wait for the floor and ceiling to open up and then proceed in and quickly jump to the floating door. This puts you back on the Halbred’s exterior.
Make your way right via the same platforms you were previously on…just take your time, size up the jump, and you should be fine.I recommend going high to clear the long jumps. You will also see an Item Box with a Trophy to your upper left, shortly after the start.Continue up and reach the deck to trigger a cut-scene.
We see Peach prancing about on the deck while Fox zooms in to attack the Halbred. He is doing great until Sheik mistakes him for an enemy and jumps to his ship, puts her first through the cockpit, and pulls him out of the deck. They are rushing towards each other to battle when Peach intervenes with some tea…must have been good stuff as Sheik was taking the smell in while Fox assessed the situation.Conflict resolved! This cut-scene also cleared the stage.
Trophies: Polly & Phyllis and Munchlax
Stickers: Fire Flower, Kumatora, Propeller Shy Guy,and Kirby
Super Smash Bros. Brawl Subspace Emissary Part 23: Battleship Hablred Interior
Part 23 of our SSBB SSE Playthrough has us take to the skies aboard the Halbred.Meta Knight and Lucario had just jumped aboard after the Halbred brushed the Glacial Peak. The cut scene introduces us to Snake, who was naturally in his box being covert and stealthy.
Enter the door and begin plowing through the Primid forces.Take the first drop down block at ground level and it will reveal a switch.Hit the switch and enter the door to break 2 Item Boxes and get 2 Trophies.Climb back up and battle the Sword Primids.Snake seems right at home in this tense environment and being outnumbered.Advance across the next set of drop-down boxes and then take the door. This takes us to a cut scene.
Meta Knight and Lucario fly-by Snake-in-a-box…the three are about to duke it out when Lucario senses a huge group of Primids, this puts everyone on the same page.
Proceed right and take out the Primid assortment. Take the platforms down and then the ladder on the left.Take care of the Mites and a few Primids to hit a switch on the room’s ceiling.Continue left and head down another ladder.Move right and collect two Stickers from the Item Box.Now climb back up and drop down on the right.Stay on the top, left platform and let the enemies come to you…this makes things much easier, until of course you realize the Floows are coming from a spawn point.Take it out and then jump up and break the blocks on the right…then jump up in a Commander keen fashion to access a hidden door.Proceed carefully as there are Glire in the area.Avoid them and take out the spawn point as soon as possible.Continue to the left and take the Trophy and 2 Stickers from the two Item Boxes. Now backtrack and head left.I was able to get back to the spring area and score a good trophy via the base throw.Jump back up to the middle two platforms and hit the pink switch on the ceiling.Get back out and proceed left.
We now head back to the top and right. When you see the Bytans coming you know you are in the right spot.Take out their spawn point and then deal with the Armights if possible. Now, it the pink switch on the celing…which in retrospect is the first one we should have done. Now we can drop down and access the center ladder. At the base, just to the right you will find an Item Box with a CD in it…be sure to grab it.
Now continue left to the door.We are now in a portion where the lights fade on and off. This stage pits us against a ton of Sword Primids and Shaydas.Try to do as much damage as possible with the lights on and try to stay centered when they dim. After you beat all of those enemies an Autolance will appear; defeat it and take the door that just appeared.
Continue on to the left and be weary of the Buckots and Primids; they are very hard to see with the lights out.(It’s less dangerous…here we are now…entertain us!Sorry, couldn’t help myself…post what that means to you as a comment here, on Twitter, or my YouTube Channel and I will reference you in a video; it must be “right” though).
Continue battling your way through the dark and take the Red Door. You’ll notice a ladder going up and a Bombed.Take out the Bombed and you’ll see that one of six blue doors just retracted. That’s right, just like the previous portion we will be having to move about the area to defeat enemies, and open the barriers. Glad to see the Halbred’s defenses are up and running after my last encounter with it in Kirby super Star Ultra, lol.
Now backtrack and head up to take out a Primid.Move down and hit the Item Box to get a Star. Now drop down and battle the Nagagog, this will open the third barrier.Head right and take the next ladder.Defeat the Metal Primid to open the fourth barrier. Now, backtrack down the ladder, across the spikes and then proceed up via the springs.I got lucky and took out the Gymul for the fifth barrier.Jump up for a Trophy in the Item Box.Now, go left and climb the next ladder. Defeat the TowTow you’ve been hearing whine and we are golden; all six of the barriers are now retracted.I have to say, Lucario has performed very well in my opinion.
Now get back to the original entry point and head through the retracted barriers to the door.(Yes I know I said 5 in the vid, didn’t count the first one and walked through fast, caught it here though…definitely 6 of them). This door triggers a cut-scene.
A large door opens and our trio finds Peach and Shiek caged in trophy form get taken over by the primid forces to spawn Dark Peach and Dark Shiek.
You will be battling both of them at the same time…the biggest issue is that they blend in with the background.I lost Snake to a failed Bob-omb grab and then Meta Knight to an attack from Zelda.Lucario came in and took out Peach, then finised Zelda with a kick.
This freed Peach and Zelda.Meta Knight, Lucario, and Snake head back out to continue navigating the Halbred, but not before Snake cautions the Princess duo to stay put. This clears the stage.
This one was pretty fun really. The characters are diverse and your toiling in the two puzzle-type portions of the Halbred are rewarded with the super-cool battle with Dark Peach and Dark Zelda.
Trophies: Chikorita, Palkia, Cymul, Cream
Stickers: Starship, Morris, Kat, Mario, Mega Mushroom, Jull & Drill Dozer, Hot Head
Super Smash Bros Brawl Supbspace Emissary Part 22: The Canyon
Part 22 of our SSBB SSE Playthrough sees us move on to The Canyon. We open and see the Ice Climbers land safely, only to be followed by a ton of primordial goo.Link, Pit, Mario, Kirby, and Yoshi spring into action. This is another 40-man brawl. There are two plateaus, two platforms, and one ditch in the middle.Pretty simple, but yet realistic.
We have to deal with all sorts of Primids, Armights, Feyesh, Big Primids, Fire Primids, Puppits (dang, these are everywhere!), and Glire. The grand finale is a Roturret and several Big Primids.
This was pretty straight forward and not too bad, but it was a lot of fun.
Super Smash Bros Brawl Supbspace Emissary Part 21: The Glacial Peak
Part 21 of our SSBB SSE Playthrough sees us chill out at the Glacial Peak. This picks up with a cut-scene where a ship engages the Halbred.Naturally, Meta Knight takes off to see who is manning his ship.It is here that we are introduced to the Ice Climbers, who follow Meta Knight up the mountain side to the Alpine region.
This stage is pretty straight forward…you start at the base of the mountain and work your way UP.You will deal with variety of enemies here, but none are too difficult to handle. The second portion will let you earn stickers form the Boom Primids and Shell Pods. When you climb up the ladder you’ll see an Item Box.Open it and then grab the sticker FAST.The spike wall starts coming out, something I did not anticipate.Continue on the upward path and do your best to clear the bosses.
I lost Meta Knight after a Ticken charged and played with the Ice Climbers for the first time.Their twin hammers made really quick work of the Floows…it was awesome!Clear this portion and take the barrel launchers up to the Yellow Flag.
The Ice Climbers can move pretty well, but it turns out you can lose one by travelling too high, again I learned this the hard way.Take the Red Door and then jump up onto a platform, it will begin ascending and you will have to work your way right and left ot doge the ice-spikes on either side of the corridor.
Naturally, you’ll also have Sword Primids come down.Once you reach a certain height the platform will start going to the northeast, then back to the northwest, and then up again…Please note the totally random elevator-esque music at this point, lol. Now, you have to climb up and deal with an auto-scrolling camera and ice blocks coming in and out of the walls. There are a few items boxes, the first is just a pair of Maxim Tomatoes, but the second is a trophy.Get to the top and then proceed to get in the Red Door before the spikes crush you from up above.
You now are faced with another barrel blaster.Jump in and then do a double jump and recovery to the platform with the ladder.I was careful to try and keep both Ice Climbers together to avoid losing one, but then got tired of it and just went up.Take the ladders and dodge the Glice…this sounds easy, but is fairly difficult.Right before the top you’ll have two Jyks to contend with as well.Get to the next platform and you’ll battle 3 Shaydas.Clear them and the fourth one…now wipe out the Glice and go up to battle yet another Shayda, but beware of the Glice circling the area.
I had to restart after getting taken out as the lone Ice Climber. Also note that the Glice will give you about 20% damage every time they freeze you. This next section features a strong wind blowing to the left.Take the Red Door and you’ll find an Item Box with a Heart Container.Jump up to land the Metal Boxes and the sink down below the Stalactite…climb up t score a Trophy from an Item Box and then drop down to exit the secret area.
Continue up, deal with more Shaydas, Spaaks, and then a Towtow, one on either side of the stage…try to use the platforms to avoid their attacks…Also eliminate the 2 Spaaks and continue your ascent.Jump up to the next Red Door at the summit and you’ll see a cut-scene.
Lucario is perched atop it and jumps down ready to fight. This stage is pretty awesome fighting on a giant ice block with the summit and mountain range in the background.Lucario is a pretty good brawler, but we made quick work of him.Meta Knight then touches the base of his trophy and he joins forces with Meta Knight and the adventurous Ice Climbers.
After the stage clear screen we see Lucario and Meta Knight shake hands.Immediately after the Halbred, with the ship that fought it strapped to its’ hull, crashes into the summit of the mountain.Meta Knight and Lucario both rush onto the ship and up towards the Halbred; the Ice Climbers fell down towards the base of the mountain.
Super Smash Bros Brawl Supbspace Emissary Part 20: Outside the Ancient Ruins
Part 20 of our SSBB SSE Playthrough has us pick up the action “Outside the Ancient Ruins.”I briefly re-hash loosing audio in Part 19 “The Research Facility.”We see Pikmin covering an ROB who executes a spin-move and throws them off.Olimar is seen for the first time and a little unsure of the ROB.Luckily, Captain Falcon zooms in and saves the day. That ends the cut-scene and we now start the stage.
I have to say this level’s background and music does give it an authentic “Ancient Ruins” vibe if you will. The background, flooring, and music do an excellent job creating the targeted feel.Speaking of backgrounds, if you pay careful attention at the start of the stage, you will see Olimar’s ship parked amongst the trees! It is little details like this that often go unnoticed, but are very nice for those who pick up on them.
Anyway, we encounter some ROB Sentries and ROB Blasters as well as our ubiquitous 3 AM text message, lol.If you get to the bridge, you can drop down and access a hidden door…just take out the Shell Pod.Note I said drop down.Captain Falcon can execute this flawlessly, even with an item in hand…it really does baffle me as to why some characters I can have do this simple action with no issue and others seem incapable of executing one of the most basic commands in the game…oh well.
As for the door…very unique set-up for this one.As you drop down, a trophy falls just a little bit after your descent starts. You can “fast fall,” land, and then jump across the gap before it disappears or you can do like I did and just grab it and try to recover; As you can see, that didn’t work out so well for me, lol.On the bright side, Olimar is now in the action for the first time…let’s see what he can do.
Exit out the door and get ready for the Shell Pod to re-spawn.Take care of it and climb back out.As you progress across watch out for a Roader and ROB Blaster. You can hit the high Item Box and land another trophy.Continue right and have fun with yet another Gamyga Base.Try to take care of it from the left side as Auroros are to the left. The first Auroro drops a trophy base if you can land one of them or a Roader.Climb the ladder and prepare for a multiman brawl. There are Auroros, ROB Blasters, ROB Launchers, and a Shell Pod.You can pick up two trophy bases here, but it is hard to pick them up and avoid damage before getting off a clean throw.I actually tossed one right at an enemy and it just disappeared.
Get over that disappointment and go right…prepare for yet another Gamyga Base. But before you do, jump to the bricks and enter the door to land 3 Trophies in the Secret Door.Simply jump across, pick up the Item Box to the Left, move right to grab the Trophy on the dropping blocks, and then jump up, hit the last Item Box, and snag it before it drops.
Exit out from the secret area and take out the Gamyga Base and a few ROBs.Continue right through the Red Door. This takes you to a cut scene where Falcon and Olimar emerge to see the ship hauling Donkey Kong’s trophy to the Research Facility.Naturally it is trailed by Falco, Fox, and Diddy Kong.
Falco does a spin maneuver and drops Diddy Kong towards the ship.Diddy uses his rocket launcher and peanut blasters to clear the deck of Primids. He lands on board and touches the base of DK’s trophy, thus activating him.Falcon nods in approval, grabs Olimar, and jumps down to join them.
I’ve got to admit, that cut scene was pretty awesome…the multiman brawl we just got into is even better!
You can choose any of the four in your desired order.Naturally I had to pick the beast himself, Donkey Kong!
You start out and have the daunting task of eliminating 40 enemies! There are primarily Primids, but there tend to be a few Scope Primids at either end of the ship.DK was lost quick on a stage end, Diddy came in and made quick work of the deck, thus releasing Sword Primids.
Next up you will deal with Turlons, Bombeds, and Shaydas.Just be careful with the Shaydas, dodge the bombs from the Bombeds and then work carefully around the Shaydas.
The next series sees Spaaks, Sword Primids, and more Turlons.Didy Kong was lost, but Captain Falcon came in to clear the deck. The finale pitted us against three Metal Primids, which are obviously a little more difficult to KO.We got a Metal Box and made quick work of them.
As they celebrate, Falco flies over head and gives a thumbs-up.Just then things get dark as the ship has auto-piloted itself into the confines of the Research Facility, thus endingthe stage.
Super Smash Bros Brawl Supbspace Emissary Part 19: The Research Facility
Part 19 of our SSBB SSE Playthough has us head back to the Research Facility with Samus and Pikachu.
First let me explain the lack of commentary…It was lost in a great tragedy.Well it isn’t really that bad, but it really sucks to have taken the time to play while narrating and rambling on about things only to have everything lost.I had this happen on Jett Rocket once as well. For some reason, when I clip the 30 minute mark with my sound recording device it CAN go haywire.I say “can” for the simple fact that sometimes it does not…in all honesty it is maybe 1 in 5 times that it happens.
Given the fact that this is such a long playthrough and the fact I had already done live commentary on it, I didn’t really want to sit down for 30 minutes and try to do post commentary. It is painfully obvious when someone does post commentary, and I try to keep this live and on-tap with my thoughts and impressions as they happen. This is a 100% blind playthrough (meaning I have never even attempted it, let alone learned the SSE and am taking you back for a walkthrough). The wayI do the live commentary is not condusive to post commentary…I spend time recapping and assessing the stage at hand and it is hard to duplicate the time frames…So long story short, no commentary for this one.
Anyway, we pick up and I went with Zero Suit Samus. You proceed right and the first thing you’ll notice is the lights going on and off. While annoying, this does a great job of setting the mood for this stage. For those of you that hate it, fear not for light switches are never too far away.
Proceed slowly to assess enemy positions…right off the bat we stumble onto some ROB Blasters.Clear this first group and make your way down the drop…break the boxes and continue if you want to be like me.If you learn from other’s mistakes you will hit the pink switch first to turn the lights on…this will basically keep you from getting hit time-after-time by the Glice that seem to litter the ground.
Yeah, had I have known that I would have hit the light switch…oh well. The good news is there is one just atop the stepped floor as well.As I said, you are usually never too far from a switch. The steps themselves are hard to clear because if you didn’t already know, you’ll find out that ROB Blasters can shoot down at angles!
Once more I don’t know why I have such a hard time dropping down, with certain characters but it took a long time for Samus to make the drop. And yes, I do know how to drop…most characters I play with it is seamless, others not so much.Drop down through the platform, and carefully clear the rising and lowering blocks..You will have to battle Big Primids after you land. The next segment is tricky if the lights go out mid-air.My advice is to get to where you can see the moving platform and then proceed. You will have to deal with Roaders and Sword Primids at this point.Always try to stay centered given where you know the ground is beneath your feet.
Take the ladder down and move quickly to the left (after hitting the light switch). When you drop down enter the left door.Jump up to score a Trophy and go right for a Heart Container. The lights will go back out and the platform will rise giving you reason to take the upper door.Enter here and take out the Buckot, Primids, and ROB Blasters.
This triggers a cut-scene where Samus finds her suit encased at the Research Facility’s lab.Two similarly equipped centurions show up and Samus and Pikachu have to battle them.It is important to note that the “Dark Samus” guards are present at the same time. This is a pretty cool setting and battle. There isn’t really much to say, it is hard to isolate these two without taking damage from behind…so my advice is concentrate on your offensive attacks and then brace yourself for a back attack.Try to stay centered, but be sure to move in and edge guard if you’ve got an enemy on the verge of missing their recovery jump.I lost Samus and Pikachu came in with both over 120% damage.
The real trick is being able to edge guard without having to contend with another opponent.Pikachu was lost and Zero Suit Samus returned…she got a sword and that was that, lol.
Naturally after clearing those enemies a huge mess of ROBs showed up.Samus got in the suit and cleaned house. This ends that cuts scene and we began our stage back battling a bevy of ROB Sentries.Continue on and you’ll start to face ROB Blasters as well. The good news is that the lights are back on and things aren’t as intimidating.Clear the blocks below you and the ones at ground level to the left to find a trophy.Continue right and watch out…You will have to hit the switches on the blocks to avoid them taking you into the spikes above. As you land on solid ground you will have ot deal with ROB Blasters or ROB Launchers, or both.We lost Samus on the final jump, but Pikachu came in to continue the quest.Take the door on the left and proceed to hit the switch to find a large “O –platform” that will move through the level on the track.Make note that they will just continue on, even if the camera does not.I won’t lie, that really sucks. The camera lags and makes it hard to forecast your destination.Jump off when you shouldn’t and you die…stay on too long and you die.It basically translates to you playing several times until you figure out the right path and sequence of platforms. You can find blocks and switches all throughout this level.
There is a hidden door on one of the platforms you can land on…Enter there and hit the switch on the spike boxes to stop them and progress left. The first Item Box is a trophy and the second Item Box is another Trophy.I lost out on continues here and then amazingly coming back in cleared the area in no time…go figure.Regardless of how annoying it is, this is important to get both trophies.
Climb back up that ladder, jump to the platform on the right, then onto the left, then down to the left, and back up to the left. This will take you right on the rail. When you see the door indented to the left jump up and enter it.You can find this sequence at 21:40-22:11.
This is really annoying and hard to land successfully, but it is what has to be done.
Enter the door and you’ll find 2 teleporters.Take the lower one to the right and you will enter a multiman brawl with a Roturret, Primid, and Scope Primid.Clear this and the platform will drop down allowing you access to two teleporters. The one on the left takes you back to the beginning while the one on the right takes you to an area with a few Primids and springs.Execute double jumps and upward smash attacks to navigate your way upwards. This is somewhat tricky depending on how well you can control the character you have at the time.Make it up to the top and you’ll find a teleporter that takes you to an area with an ROB Blaster and a moving platform.
As the platform moves left, jump up and enter the teleporter. You will drop down to find Glice, an Item Box, and another teleporter.Take out the Glice, grab a Trophy from the Item Box, and then take the teleporter. If you are patient you can land a trophy of the Glice as they make their way back to your area. Finally, move left into the teleporter and you will be back at the start.
I knew that we stopped the moving platform’s sequence by taking the teleporter on the block, but I wasn’t quite convinced that was all that was up there.I entered the right teleporter, took the lower right teleporter where we battled the Roturret.Made my way up via the Springs to the top and entered the door to get back on the moving platform.
This time simply jump and skip the teleporter on the block and take the one on the far left. This one puts you just above the original door and you hit a switch that opens the gate blocking your access to the door placed just above the right teleporter in the first room (that makes sense right?Lol!).
Anyway, hit the switch, teleport back to the platform, then jump up on the floating block and teleport back to the start.
Now, being that I was curious I took the teleporter just above the entry door.It takes us to the area the teleporter on the floating block drops us into.If you take it first, you’ll just deal with the Glice, grab the trophy, and then have to go back and proceed as we did through the right teleporter.Just like the “O-platforms, this is just somewhat of a maze.
Now, jump up and enter the door. This one takes you to a hallway with an Item Box containing two Healthmatoes (Maxim Tomatoes). You know what this means…boss battle!Continue right and enter the door.
This cut scene shows Samus and Pikachu walk towards a table only to be piucked up by Ridley.Ridley drags Samus across the corridor doing considerable damage.Pikachu rushes in to save Samus and they crash to the floor.Ridley lands and we are set to go.
Ridley’s attacks are pretty basic once you’ve seen them. The tail gets drug across the floor, there is the fast flapping of the wings that creates wind, he’ll drop down with a crash landing, and then if he turns back one direction he is likely going to shoot across right-left, or vice-versa.
Knowing this, just attack Ridley when he is stationary.Do your best to dodge the tail and crash landings…and anytime you see him to side-to-side, try to be high in the air or on the ground crouching.
Samus landed a lot of damage before she got KOd.Pikachu was doing quite well until an odd fall.Samus came back in, got a Metal Box and proceeded to take Ridley out.Not that bad of a battle at all.Act quick and you can pick-up items Ridley drops after battling. The way the camera pans out and down, you can’t see them, but just scurry about and see what you can do.
As the battle ends Samus and Pikachu exit out of the Research Facility and find the entrance to the Subspace Bomb Factory; this clears the stage.Note that about the time the Trophy list is up, the video’s audio starts to scratch…this is that magic moment where the commentary was lost.Oh well. This was a very long stage (4%), but you accomplished quite a bit.
