Skylander Research: Numbers Never Lie Statistical Discrepancies Between Standard, Legendary, and Nitros in Trap Team

You can find and join in more Skylander discussions like this one on the Skylander Club Forum:
http://www.skylanderclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=98

Well, despite needing to be asleep and having lots to do, I could not resist seeing if my beloved Legendaries were back to their statistically superior stats.

As you should know by now, I tend to take the Skylanders Series a little more serious than most.  I am also a big numbers guy.  One of my disappointments in SWAP Force was the way that "special" in-game variants were kind of wiped clean of their stat boost.  Legendaries in SSA and Giants had nice pads vs their standard counterparts.

Despite being insanely busy and needing to be asleep, I couldn't resist the temptation any longer...I just had to know if the boost was back since Toys for Bob handled Trap Team.

The results are mixed.  In my latest late night research I had 3 Case Studies and 6 Skylanders.  Here are the results:

Character-Health-Armor-Speed-Critical Hit-Elemental Power-Total

Blades                280 30 60 10 25  405 (+22)
Legenday Blades 240 18 70 30 25  383 (-22)

Jawbreaker                340 12 50 70 25  497 (=2)
Legendary Jawbreaker 300 30 60 80 25  495 (-2)

Krypt King                300 24 60 40 25  449 (-32)
Nitro Krypt King 300 36 60 60 25  481 (+32)

As you can see, both Legendary Blades and Legendary Jawbreakers have SIGNIFICANTLY LOWER HEALTH than their standard counterparts...this is mind boggling to me.  Sure you can argue they have an edge elsewhere ,but aren't Legendaries to be superior in all categories, you know, hence why they are Legendary?

Blades and Jawbreaker both boast +40 Health OVER their Legendary counterparts.

Blades has +10 Speed and +10 Critical Hit, but also touts -12 Armor.  Of the three stats, Armor is the most significant imo.  Overall he is -22 Stat Points BELOW standard Blades.

L-Jawbreaker suffers the -40 Health, but at least touts a stat boost in the other categories: +18 Armor, +10 Speed, and +10 Elemental Power.  This gives him +2 Stat Points ABOVE standard Jawbreaker.

The biggest winner in the mix is Nitro Krypt King.  His health is the same as standard Krypt King and then he gains +12 Armor and +20 Critical Hit to give him a cumulative +32 Advantage over standard Krypt King.  Oddly enough, the Speed Stat is even at 60...one would think of all the stats to boost for a "Nitro" character it would be speed...

Nonetheless, there you have it.  I recorded intros for all 6 Characters tonight...actually bundled them together for each set.  I will get them up ASAP, but the numbers don't lie and I find them very interesting.

To me each attribute should be equal to or greater than the standard character's stats.  Having a big drop in Health is completely unwarranted.  It is also sad to see L-Blades at such a disadvantage.

What are your thoughts on the statistical discrepancies?  I am very interested in monitoring Nitro Head Rush, L-Bushwhack, and L-Deja Vu.  I have the Dark Skylanders...I really hope they have a bigger boost.

Unboxing Legendary Night Shift

-SWAP Zone Power: Teleport

Slogan: "Roll with the Punches!"

Card Stats
Power: 190/200 (+10 over Night Shift)
Armor: 95/200 (-5 under Night Shift)
Agility: 150/200 (+5 over Night Shift)
Luck: 50/200 (+5 over Night Shift)
Totals: 485/800 (+15 over Night Shift)

Legendary Night Shift was released Sunday, November 10th, 2013 here in the US.  I got to my local TRU a little after lunch time and was surprised to see a LOT of stock in terms of Legendary Night Shift.  Similarly, it looked as if the other Legendary figures had been restocked, most notably Legendary Free Ranger, who had been quite slim the last few weeks.

Legendary SWAP Force Skylanders

I must again stress that if you plan to collect or acquire the Legendary Skylanders, be it a duplicate of your favorite, the Swappers to explore their other paths etc, or just in place of the regular counterparts, I suggest you pick them up now.  The BOGO40% is a good deal and waiting post Black Friday might not result in any better of a deal, but more headaches.  If SWAP Force follows suit with what we have seen with SSA and Giants, stock could start to take a significant hit and those "shelf warmers" you were waiting on, might become tough to find...You never know, but that is the gamble you take in waiting.  I'm more than comfortable with the 40% Off promo and don't think I'll see a better deal outside of close out sales come late next summer.

Undead Element SWAP Force: Rattle Shake, Legendary Night Shift, Night Shift

The good news, however, is that Legendary Night Shift came in just as expected and in ample quantity.  He is a nice addition to any collection and works well for Night Shift fans as he allows you to explore the other top and bottom upgrade paths.  Good luck landing Legendary Night Shift for your collection!

Teleport Skylanders: Enchanted Hoot Loop, Legendary Night Shift, and Hoot Loop

Here is a little bonus video that my Nephew, thewalkthruking, and I shot after initially unboxing Legendary Night Shift...It naturally features Night Shift vs Legendary  Night Shift, and other Legendary matches:

Skylanders SWAP Force Legendaries Surface on TRU.com

Toys'R'Us is known for their large Skylander inventory, special figures, and of course, their Exclusive Legendaries!  I have continually read that we should see Legendary Zoo Lou and Legendary Night Shift at launch, but I have seen nothing on TRU's end to substantiate that.  I do not know where this information is coming from (original source wise), but it has been posted on several marquee gaming sites.  Neither character is listed in their ads, or online.

However, Toys'R'Us did recently (finally) post up two that we know will be available Day 1: Legendary LightCore Grim Creeper and Legendary Free Ranger.  Special thanks to Philip for the spot!

I suspect the others will be staggered similar to what we have seen in the past...It will be interesting to see if we get a Legendary Triple Pack this time, OR if the retailer has opted to keep all Legendary Skylanders as Single Packs this time around...Personally, I am a big fan of the Legendary Triple Pack as it focuses on the core characters and provides players more bang for the buck.

You can Pre-Order the two Legendary Skylanders at the links below:

Review of Skylanders Giants Collector Card Starter Set

Opening and Review of Skylanders Giants Topps Collector Card Starter Set
(Bonus Pack Feature: Legendary Bouncer)

*Please note that the camera was still on "cloud" and thus made for the funky/vintage look.

What?  Topps Skylanders Giants Collector Card Starter Set, TRU Exclusive

Where Did You Get It? Toys'R'Us

How Much Was It?  $8.99 plus tax

What is Included?  Album with Checklist, Bonus Pack with 4 Legenaries and 3 Glow-in-the-Dark Cards, and (2) Single Packs (6 cards per pack)

What was Stock Like?  Honestly, it looked untouched since I had bout the Jet-Vac Album last week.

Check out the Review of the L-Jet-Vac Bonus Pack Starter Sethttp://www.1ofwiisdom.blogspot.com/2012/12/review-of-tru-exclusive-topps.html

Break it Down

This is the same ol' song and dance as last time.  Album with bonus pack and 2 single packs.

This time around I'll compare the two Bonus Packs as that is the real draw of the set.

There are (2) variations that I know of...Legendary Bounder and Legendary Jet-Vac.  Here is how mine broke down:

Legendary Bouncer Bonus Pack: L-Bouncer, L-Trigger Happy, L-Chop Chop, L-Slam Bam, GITD: Stealth Elf, Eruptor, and Gill Grunt

Legendary Jet-Vac Bonus Pack: L-Jet-Vac, L-Ignitor, L-Spyro, L-Stealth Elf, GITD: Spyro, Stump Smash, and Trigger Happy.

Complete Bonus Pack Contents

Top Row=L-Jet-Vac, Bottom Row=L-Bouncer

Legendary and GITD Cards

Legendary Cards

Glow in the Dark Cards

Conclusion

This really is a good deal, particularly if you plan to collect the complete set.  The albums, while I wish they were standard size (3x3) and could house the entire set, are nice and feature the checklist.  The price isn't too bad considering you get 19 Cards and an Album for just a few bucks more than a Jumbo Pack.

Legendary Skylanders Giants

Here are some screen grabs of the new Legendary Skylanders for Skylanders Giants.

We will see a Toys'R'Us Exclusive Triple Pack featuring: Legendary Ignitor, Legendary Slam Bam, and Legendary Jet-Vac.  (I actually just reserved this pack today! Thursday, September 20th, 2012).

Legendary Bouncer seems to be the only Giant coming in Legendary forum and he is believed to be the "TBD Giant" you earn the right to purchase with a TRU Giants pre-order.

I also believe that Chill and Stealth Elf will come along later on, much like we saw with Legendary Trigger Happy.  I could be wrong, but it makes sense. I'd expect them to come at the midway point and then after that respectively.  As of right now it looks like Toys'R'Us will remain the Legendary headquarters here in the USA, but with Chill and Stealth Elf in the mix there remains the possibility that they "could" go elsewhere....my money would still be on this remaining exclusive to TRU and other retailers getting special variants etc.

Legendary Chill

 Legendary Ignitor

Legendary Jet-Vac

 Legendary Slam Bam

Legendary Stealth Elf
 Legendary Bouncer

Note that I could not find a good picture of Legendary Ignitor, so I just have a place filler.
