July 2017 Channel Update with Shotgun Farmers
Hey Everyone,
If you are reading this, you probably took the link in the video...you are smart...you can read this in FRACTIONS of the time it would take to watch the video (there really are some great kill streaks in there tho!).
This video kind of sucks...I wanted to combine a Channel Update with gameplay and apparently I should have recorded the gameplay with no commentary and then voiced over it, live and learn.
That said, we did get a lot of sweet kill streaks!
This video is actually a perfect representation of my current predicament. Work has been insanely busy and as such my already sparse free time has really dried up. I always like to upload 2 videos a day to allow for more diverse content and simply to progress thru playthrus a bit quicker. As things stand right now, and at least for a few more weeks, 1 video a day remains the most likely scenario.

Minelogix Stream Team on Mixer!
Hey Everyone!
If you feel like reading, go right ahead...if not, just take this link to get a feel for the Minelogix Stream Team on Mixer! It is obviously a work in progress, but I think it has a lot of potential.
This is something I have been meaning to do for quite some time...
Beam, a streaming site I really liked the interface of, was purchased by Microsoft awhile back and more recently had a revamp and name change...the site is now known as Mixer.
Mixer, which kept the interface I love so much, is integrated into both Xbox One and Windows (PC) streaming. This is a very nice asset and makes streaming much more accessible for those outside the loop.
In addition to very low latency (ie you are much closer to the real time action), Mixer introduced a really cool "co-op" stream where you can have up to four people streaming on the same channel. Case in point, if myself, BlackPants, Omenix, and Cellcia were all on the Minelogix Server and streaming to Mixer you could go to any one of our channels and watch all four perspectives...pretty cool, huh?!
Likewise, their pleasant User Interface allows VIEWERS to earn "Sparks." Sparks are an on-site currency that you literally earn while you watch streams...doesn't that make sense? When a streamer "goes interactive" you can use your Sparks to cheer them on and highlight comments etc. It is like Twitch, but you didn't have to shell out cash.
In addition to this making streaming more fun for the viewer AND streamer, I like the setup.
I streamed once on Beam when Twitch was acting up. My only real complaints remain the lack of a direct export to YouTube and the lack of a video editor/highlight tool. To the best of my knowledge, both are said to be in the works.
As many of you know, I had long touted how much I liked the Beam interface and wished more people would try it...well, that shot in the arm came when Microsoft began integrating it into their consoles.
On the flip side you have Twitch. I primarily stream Skylanders there and they give the game NO LOVE. I'm not talking about featuring it ahead of Overwatch, Hearthstone, or Player Uknown's Battlegrounds...I mean that Skylanders doesn't even get game art! Seriously! Out of all the games, only Giants has proper game art. That is pretty sad imo. Twitch also tends to be a little over-reaching for myself and many others. When you are partnered you basically have to sign off that you won't stream elsewhere (see also YouTube and a few other outlets). While I liked the idea of diversifying when I began on Twitch, I streamed regularly for years and only mustered 100+ followers.
I polled viewers (on YouTube of course) and they tended towards preferring YouTube by a wide margin. Granted, when I had started, YT streaming wasn't really a thing. I tried it out (due to Twitch pushing some things I don't agree with) and instantly had not only more viewers, but a very common comment of, "Hey, I never knew that you did live streams!" Freakin-a! All those years, people would have watched, but didn't know I streamed on Twitch. I did my best to make it obvious...end slides on videos, links in description boxes, and of course tweeting. Still, if you are embeded in the YouTube eco-system, you might still remain oblivious to my outside dealings. This is an obvious advantage to streaming on YouTube.
However, there are still a few shortcomings there. Anytime I stream a Nintendo game...it is a copyright nightmare! Despite being a member of the Nintendo Content Creator Program, the games get flagged immediately and a series of 14 or so e-mails heads your direction.
I still, for whatever reason, have not figured this out, but when I stream games from the Big N, they wind up archived very weirdly. If I do NBA Playgrounds, it goes right to my Video Manager and is ready for release as soon as it processes. The Nintendo games are filed away to the point where sometimes I can't get to them. Then when you do, and you want to edit them into smaller clips for a couple of videos (ie dividing 2 hours of Mario Kart into 4 videos, or a month of Animal Crossing into weekly installments) you have to deal with their Video Editor. It isn't bad, but it certainly ins't good. Twitch does have the slight edge here, although with any effort at all, YouTube could (and should) easily over take them.
With that said, I really want to stream Mario Kart and Yoshi's Wooly World, and more Breath of the Wild, but it is a total pain to deal with that on the YT side. This is where Mixer may come in...
I haven't tried it yet, but as soon as things slow down I hope to stream a little Nintendo action to Mixer. I will then try downloading it and editing it before uploading (totally not ideal for someone like me with bad internet), but having a local copy to edit will save TONS of time over YouTube's lackluster video editor. It just sucks that the quality of the stream still won't be great (see also my bad internet).
It sucks to leave years of streaming and those hard earned 100+ followers on Twitch, but instead of just sticking to games, they tend to feel the need to push divisive social/political agendas, and I have a hard time tying myself into that mess. Plus, I haven't forgotten that Amazon totally screwed me over on Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and their "guaranteed day of release delivery." If you didn't know, Amazon bought Twitch fairly recently. And yes, in the past I was a proud proponent of Amazon, as they have continued to grow, however, I feel that the customer service I admired early on has become increasingly lack luster...I hope that changes as they are a great source for some hard to find products.
Ironically, I actually think I'd qualify for the new Twitch affiliate program. That said, I've never been all about the money (YouTube added Super Chat to their live stream interface to combat Twitch and I have yet to see someone use it), and I really, really don't like the way Twitch handles it. The thought of someone paying real money for glittery bits to throw in my beggar's cup is just kind of weird. It makes a donation to show your support/appreciation for the streamer into more of a, "Oh you poor thing" as you drop change in a cup. Most people don't argue with free money, but I just find the whole setup odd, and I'd much rather have people rewarded for watching the streams in the way Mixer has setup. Also of note, no one really seems to donate on YouTube, it is like it is frowned upon because everyone just assumes if you are making videos on YouTube, you are an undeserving millionaire. I don't get that as it couldn't be farther from the truth for 99% of YouTubers, particularly gamers, but whatever. On Twitch, people throw money around like it is a requirement.
Mixer just fits my style so much better than Twitch. You watch the stream, you get on-site currency (see also: FREE) and then YOU can use that to interact with me. Why does no one else do that?
I still plan to stream on YouTube, but I am wanting to try a few games out on Mixer. If it is a pain to download footage, edit it, and upload it to YouTube, I might change course a bit...but tentatively I am thinking about trying to stream Minecraft, Forza, and possibly some Nintendo titles to Mixer.
Again, way back when I started on Twitch (I remember when it was Justin.tv btw), my idea was to diversify from YouTube in the event things went downhill...well they did and my efforts to diversify were for nothing. Everyone always raves about "the Twitch community" but I honestly just felt like I was just streaming...and my viewers were about 99% subscribers from YouTube (again, a lot of this has to do with the games I play and the fact that they'd be buried on the Twitch listings, but still...if a Triple A game from Activision, a major publisher, can't get game art, I don't think they really care about myself, or anyone else streaming Skylanders.
All that aside, Mixer being tide into the Microsoft family of services appeals to me...Microsoft has Minecraft and Forza, so it makes sense to start there and see how it goes. Again, I might also do some Nintendo action on Mixer to avoid a round of copyright emails. I wish my internet was on-par with others, but it isn't so I can't do super HD streams. I max it out for what internet I have and then take it in stride.
That said, as of now, early morning July 4th, 2017 I have set up a Minelogix Team page on Mixer and I hope to give it a go with some other members. It just makes sense given the built in integration and I am hoping it is optimized so I might be able to squeeze out 720 HD for the streams.
As always thanks for your support! If my internet continues to suck, I'll just keep on recording offline and uploading as I've done for years...if something pans out on this front hopefully I can stream a little more frequently again.

Happy Thanksgiving: Quick Update & Holiday Schedule

I will be away from a computer (scary, I know!) for a few days this Thanksgiving holiday and wanted to give you a heads up on what videos will be going live and when...I will attempt to get them all tweeted at some point each day, but I won't be able to share them to Google + or Facebook.

I am having to make this post a bit in advance (by the time you see this I will be out on the open road en route to an Independence Day destination to better celebrate 'Merica!).
That said, we had 4 interactions in Episode 44 of our Let's Play Stardew Valley series and it prompted me to poll you, the audience, as to how you felt about the ladies of SDV. I have to say, based on my experience thus far in the game, these interactions were about par for each, give or take a few theatrics.
I had my initial impression BEFORE playing, my early favorite based on a little gameplay, and now a reconsidering of the rankings personally...that said, I will not let you know how I am leaning...I simply want to know which lady you think I should pursue and WHY.
So, if you think I need to go after Haley because you think she is the prettiest, Leah because she is the nicest, Abigal because she has purple hair, Penny to get her out of Pam's trailer etc., let me know who and why. If you think one is nice, but another is slightly more appealing, expand on it.
I know Emily will be eligible for marriage as well, but she isn't quite yet, so I didn't include her in the poll...if you think she is the best candidate, let me know why as a comment.
Anyway the last few weeks of work have been quite busy and with the trip I have busted by butt to have enough videos to cover the few days I will be gone...so, enjoy them! Thanks to a recent YouTube purge, I lost about 300 subscribers, so if you notice my videos missing from your feed, please resubscribe!
I will have a special Independence Day video going up, some Minelogix, and possibly a "new" series as well...Once home I will make a Channel Update video, so stay tuned for that...I also do have more SuperChargers coming your way...Battlecast has been heavily requested...tell Activision you want it on PC! It would make so much sense there and I could easily record/stream it. Right now, I simply don't have a way to play it.
I hope you enjoy this video and let me know who you think I should go after...If this is your first taste of Stardew Valley, I encourage you to check it out...everyone who has done so has wound up getting hooked on it! Similarly, if you haven't seen Wiisdom Plays Minecraft, it would be enjoyable as well!

Minecon 2016 & Mother's Day
Well, we did it...Mother's Day Weekend 2016 and we have tickets to Minecon!
This has been somewhat of a family goal for a few years now. My Nephew, thewalkthruking, became obsessed with the game shortly after we sorted out how to actually play Pocket Edition. Since those early days he moved on to Minecraft Console Edition via Xbox One, and then wound up with a custom, gaming computer to play PC.
Instrumental in his addiction was the PvP side of the game...he can quote off Mindcrack UHC stats better than a Wiki, or Reddit and in the downtime came across other SMPs with their own UHCs like The Cube. Ever longing for more, he got into Reddit UHC, Badlion, and more.
We not only live streamed our own Pocket Edition UHCs in those early days, but PvP Matches, Build-Offs, and our custom, now traditional, "Bare Fist Beatdowns" became staples for any family gathering. Minecraft usurped Mario Kart Wii and became King.
A few short years later I set up the Minelogox server for a Christmas gift...I don't know that I'll ever top it. With our new gaming computers, we are pushing that ground while also enjoying Realms based Minigames via a Realm he got from his Nana for this past birthday (and as a cover in case we couldn't score Minecon tickets).
Minecon will finally give him the chance to meet some of his favorite YouTubers and the people behind the game! We have wanted to do this for awhile and Minecon kind of combines a whole host of smaller, regional conventions where a few folks would be at and expands it 20 fold with a straight up focus on the block game.
For his Birthday this year, my Mom (see also TWK's Nana), said she would get him Minecon tickets. We tried Friday night and couldn't checkout...they were sold out, we must have just missed it. Saturday we were on the road and all of us busted out or cell phones and frantically hit refresh more than we'd cumulatively used the button in the phone's lifetime..the carhop at Sonic probably thought we were crazy when the car shook with the elated roar following my sister's, "I'm in...we got them!"
We tried to stay calme as we figured we could still get booted...the final submit was hit and then we had successive notification chimes of confirmation e-mails. Freakin' sweet!!! We are going to Minecon! The pure tremor of joy we all saw from TWK made the effort worthwhile. The game that has dominated his, and our, life for these last few years is going to be accessible at a new, more personable level...and that is VERY exciting.
The only downside is that my Mom and Sister were a little disappointed when they learned the "capes" we kept talking about were virtual, or in-game only and NOT something tangible, in real life...maybe Mojang could make them 2 for Mother's Day...
Happy Mother's Day to all the great Mom's out there! The day is intended to honor moms with gifts and praise, and while this technically happened Saturday, not Sunday, the effort in scoring the tickets is reflective of the 24/7, year-round efforts mothers put forth to raise their children right and do what they can to bring joy into their lives...Maybe TWK and I can get them IRL Minecon capes, their current capes are hard to see ;)

February 2015 Channel Update: Skylander Hunting and Future Plans
Hey!
Remember a few years ago when I would do weekly updates every Thursday? Not sure I will get back to that, but I thought this would make a nice tie-in for the video I just recorded.
Skylander Hunting
Target
I went in equipped with Target's DCPI for Nitro Head Rush. She appeared on their website Wednesday and showed to be "in stock" at my local store. I went in and found tons of Head Rush, but no Nitro. I found an employee and they entered in the DCPI. Boom! "12 in the back!" was the response!
So after patiently waiting, I was awarded Nitro Head Rush!
For whatever reason, Target is often cheaper on groceries than my local grocery stores, so I figured I would check around for the General Mills Skystones...
Boom! Score #2! Honey Nut Cheerios with the Skystones!
Toys'R'Us
Although I checked online and the store showed to have no stock on Legendary Bushwhack, I figured I would check anyway. Waltzed in to a desolate store (woohoo!) and found several LBWs just sitting on the pegs. I grabbed him and then scanned the Amiibo section...My eyes spotted a Toon Link lonely hanging all by his lonesome.
I found out that the BOGO 40% on Skylanders and Amiibo was actually cross-compatible! So, if you are like me and didn't need a 2nd Skylander, or they didn't have what you wanted, but found an Amiibo, you can go that route and save a little cash.
I didn't pre-order Toon Link and I guess that coupled with knowing scalpers wouldn't get him was incentive to buy. I'll be honest though, I'd gladly trade this for Rosalina or Meta Knight. He does look cool fwiw.

After about a 2 month hiatus I am back on this series and having a great time. I have recorded up thru E23 and we are making progress on our base building. I will likely mix in some diamond hunting and farming to break up the building a bit. Remember, I'm doing this thing 100% vanilla in survival.
Mario Kart 8
I was gun-ho on finishing this thing up, but every video I upload gets flagged for music (not a copyright strike, just a "matched 3rd party content"). It was around this time that I was having to jump thru hoops to prove rights to my own unboxings etc. This isn't very fun stuff to do and as a result, I'm going to shelved it while I enjoy some other things. Once I think the majority of the Skylander unboxings are wrapped up I will try to resume it.

This is something I'm looking for feedback on and didn't include in this latest video.
Captain Toad Treasure Tracker
I was wanting to start a playthrough on Captain Toad Treasure Tracker. Due to the way seemingly anything Nintendo gets flagged now and then proceeds to interfere with all my other stuff, I'm a bit hesitant.
Forza Horizon 2
I'd never played a game in the Forza series (yep it is true, I wasn't lying when I said the XB1 was my first Xbox). I got this game for my birthday and I am really enjoying it. I don't know if I'm good at the game, horrible, or what, but it is something I wondered if anyone would be interested in seeing from time-to-time.
NBA 2k15
This was also a birthday present and I've contemplated uploading a few street ball style games (ie NBA Legends). The game is very complex and not at all like I remember my mid-to-late 90s NBA Live installments...I'm sure I'd get better at it as we went, but I think my idea for the series might be a fresh take over the likely season mode most upload.

Unboxing Think Geek's Minecraft Light-Up Redstone Ore
What? Minecraft Redstone Light
Where Did You Get It? Toys'R'Us
What Did It Cost? $24.99 plus tax
What Was Stock Like? Probably 8-12 total, but it was the first time I'd seen them in person
While making my usual rounds hunting for Skylander variants etc., I spotted this Minecraft Redstone Light from Think Geek. Technically they call it the "Light-Up Redstone Ore" but I think 99% of people would agree that "Redstone Light" successfully and succinctly describes this item best.
My Nephew, as you should know, is big time into Minecraft...given that it was red and that we have recently been playing around with Redstone, I figured it would be a cool Valentine's gift. The product was not priced on the shelf, but the nearby stickers seemed reasonable...I didn't know it was $25 till I got home. That is a higher price than you can get online at Amazon $22.49, or Think Geek at $19.99, but I suppose the fact it was there, I didn't have to pay freight, and I had it for Valentine's Day covers the premium.
This is your typical novelty gift, but it seems to be well made and looks like it will give him years of enjoyment. My only concern is that the "tap" action isn't quite smooth...there is no set point to trigger a change and sometimes you can inadvertently do so, but all-in-all, I think that constitutes only a minor issue.
The light itself is pretty cool. Don't forget that you need 2 AA Batteries and a small Phillips screwdriver to access the battery compartment. Once you have the power source in place you simply slide the switch to the "ON" position (it is tucked away nicely on the bottom side).
The cool thing is there are 3 levels of brightness that go from a dim glow all the way up to an impressive output of red. I don't think you'd want to read by the Redstone light, but it would work well as a night light, side table tap light, or just a really cool light up block at parties and get togethers.
For the price, I think it is a nice item and should function as intended for years to come.
Below you can see the 3 different levels of brightness...If nothing else you know you've got a hit with any Minecraft fan and a sure fire conversation piece!
All-in-all I am happy with this Redstone light, my Nephew loves it, and I think it is going to look pretty cool in his bedroom. There is also a Diamond Light that I may pick up at some point in the future!

This is something that has been a very popular request. My Nephew and I have decided to make it happen. As of New Year's Day we have started a brand new Minecraft Pocket Edition Series called, Ultimate Quest. Ultimate Quest will be set up in a Season/Episode format. We will upload as time allows. **While recording S2 Prism Break's Prismancer Upgrade Path last night, I was struck by lightning! Not myself peresonally, but the house...and the TV...and the Wii...and the computer. Luckily, nothing was damaged. Sadly, I lost ALL OF THE RECORDING :( Prism Break is fully upgraded after restarting, so I can't really redo the upgrade end of the video. That said, I will walk you through the Upgrade Path, show the moves on the ship, and then take him through some Heroics to showcase it. **While recording S2 Prism Break's Prismancer Upgrade Path last night, I was struck by lightning! Not myself peresonally, but the house...and the TV...and the Wii...and the computer. Luckily, nothing was damaged. Sadly, I lost ALL OF THE RECORDING :( Prism Break is fully upgraded after restarting, so I can't really redo the upgrade end of the video. That said, I will walk you through the Upgrade Path, show the moves on the ship, and then take him through some Heroics to showcase it.
