I will be away from a computer (scary, I know!) for a few days this Thanksgiving holiday and wanted to give you a heads up on what videos will be going live and when...I will attempt to get them all tweeted at some point each day, but I won't be able to share them to Google + or Facebook.

Astro A50 Wireless Headset Overview: What's in the Box, Initial Impressions, and Review!
Astro A50 Wireless Headset
Unboxing, What's in the Box, Initial Impressions, and Review
In this video we unbox Astro's A50 Wireless Headset showcasing what is included and the stand assembly, while covering my experience with them thus far.
These are the three EQ Presets as per Astro's Website:
-Pro: Boosted high frequencies for competitive gameplay
-Core: Balanced for single player gaming
-Media: Enhanced bass, for movies and music
I have not seen any custom tags for the A50s, but I am sure they are coming. I don't have any prior experience with their products to know if previous series can interchange.
Overall, this is a very nice headset. The sound quality is good and the headset is lightweight and most important, comfortable. I will be testing the mic (sans adhesive film) very soon. There are several color options available...the Black and Lime shown here is targeted for use with the Xbox One and as a Gen2 release, includes the chat cable.
Here is a link to the product's release statement:
http://blog.astrogaming.com/2014/10/t...
Update 4/3/2016
Helpful Troubleshooting:
I had one issue where the headset would NOT get sound...I could not figure it out. Online people reported the same issue and most had it resolved by repairing the headset. What had happened to me is that the RH Side has the Voice/Game buttons and it has gone all the way to one side...tapping around on it got things back to normal!
Hear the Mic in Action:
Pretty much any of my recent Minelogix videos will give you an idea of the sound quality. I have since bought a Blue Yeti, but still use this headset for PC Gaming...
Minelogix Playlist: Minelogix SMP Playlist
Conclusion:
-Very nice headset, good sound, solid mic...comfort is king though and imo that is where this set excels! Hope this helps some of you out as it is a pricey headset, but well worth it if you wear it for long interval!

Skylanders SWAP Force Wave 4 Update: Scratch & Fryno in the US, FreezeBlade and Trap Shadow in Canada
Hey Everyone,
I opted to make this video on the PC to showcase the nice high-res shots I have of the actual Skylander figures themselves...
That said, while making my rounds Thursday night I innocently tweeted that I was out hunting Wave 4 Skylanders...Needless to say that got a lot of interest...I had everything from a few direct replies to a ton of messages.
As such, I figured I would just make a quick video to kind of update you:
Here is a text for those of you who still prefer to read:
Wave 4
Wave 4 Singles of the Core Characters have started to surface at Walmart's across the west coast. They will make their way east over this coming week or so.
The hot commodity will no doubt be Fire Element Newlander Fryno and Air Element Newlander Scratch. They cover basically 66% of the case with the remaining slots going to Series 2 Fire Bone Hot Dog and Series 2 Turbo Jet-Vac.
Your next question is probably regarding the Swappers (Doom Stone, Trap Shadow, and Freeze Blade).
Well, consider this your lucky day because Freeze Blade and Trap Shadow have both arrived in Canada at EB Games! If that follows suit state side you might see them at GameStop before the other retailers....keep in mind that will just be a small chance and a few days.
Why do I think we will see both very soon? Simple. Target has a solid release date of Sunday, March 23rd, 2014 for Nitro Freeze Blade. We have never had an in-game variant of that type available BEFORE it's standard counterpart. That bodes very well for both Freeze Blade and Trap Shadow.
Speaking of in game variants, one of the wackiest to date has to be Springtime Trigger Happy. I think we should see him very soon as well, obviously with sales intended to go BEFORE Easter.
That also lends to the basic notion that the special "Spring Edition" packaging for Fryno and Punk Shock should be hitting shelves soon as well. As of right now nothing has been spotted.
With this initial hit of Wave 4 we are faced with the likelihood that Punk Shock will be the most sought after "Spring Edition" just because she doesn't yet have a standard counterpart. Keep in mind that with Fryno and Punk Shock the figures are exactly the same, it is just the packaging that is different.
Also somewhat in the dark is Doom Stone. Could my most anticipated Swapper be relegated to an SSA Wham-Shell like launch some time in June? Common sense would say that isn't likely as they will probably get him in the mix as soon as they can in order to keep the restocks coming etc. As a single launch, if the initial quantities aren't up to par, he could turnout to be quite difficult to track down.
That brings me to the issues with Scratch and Fryno. Out of the limited segment of the country that has access to these Skylanders, the scalpers are back in full kill mode. You can find some sellers who foolishly post up mile high stacks of either character in their listings. As always I advise and encourage you to NOT buy from them. When they wind up with a stack of toys they have to sell at face value, they'll find something else to pirate, or perhaps get a real job!
Everyone should know how I feel about Walmart...in all honesty, I think the last time I was in the place was to get Enchanted Hoot Loop. I really, really hope that other retailers get the new stuff in this coming week as well so I won't have to waste time going in that place...However, it will become a "must enter" for Enchanted Star Strike...I suppose once every 5-6 months is acceptable, lol.
The other big concern is Nitro Freeze Blade. Target, at least where I am at, has a really bad history with their special characters. They finally got in a few more of the Nitro Magna Charge packs, but in limited quantity. To date, I never saw Granite Crusher at my local store outside of the last two on launch day that I picked up...
Our one saving grace is that usually, in the Spring, there is less demand than fall/winter.
I will continue the hunt here from the homeland and keep you updated on any leads or figures I obtain!
I fully anticipate that Trap Shadow and Freeze Blade will be the favorite Swapper for a large number of people. I also think Scratch will go over quite well with female Portal Master and dragon fans...Fire Bone Hot Dog should be well received due to his popularity. Call me crazy, but I am excited about Turbo Jet-Vac's new Wow Pow.
That said, it is all of a sudden a very exciting time for Portal Masters everywhere!
Let me know what you find and be sure to vote in the recent blog polls!

LightCore Chill and LightCore Pop Fizz Now Available at Amazon.com
Big news once again as several folks have ordered and have shipping confirmation on LightCore Chill and LightCore Pop Fizz! We have also seen a new Magic Element character leaked for SwapForce...more on that later! Sneaky news, no?
The source as of right now is Amazon.com.
They were spotted for pre-order on the 24th, and a ship date on the 26th, but many already have them in transit!
This is great for several reasons;
1-We are closer to wrapping up the Giants Collection!
2-I personally plan to use LC Pop Fizz for the other upgrade path and let Punch Pop Fizz, take the one I like better.
3-Most of the time when Amazon sells something first, it isn't too terribly long before others have them up online, or in store. GameStop is usually first to follow suit. Walmart will often have the site-to-store option up that works well to avoid freight, but still alleviate dealing with scalpers. Many folks have had long standing pre-orders with TRU...I'm thinking you'll continue to have to wait as I would almost bank that they will hold them back for a "special" day and ad/e-mail to bring folks in...
I can't stress enough how it pays to be patient...don't pay more than $11.99 for either of these characters. They may be hard to come by early on, but you will feel a lot better when you hold out for retail, or better yet, land them when they drop to $5.99 like several other LightCore characters have already done.
I really don't know how some justify ordering these in from Eurpoe when they will be standard issue, eventually well stocked characters...especially when they have both been out since launch! It isn't like you're getting in the last "new" character or something. Be smart with your money and shop around. By not paying scalpers, and not paying out $25-40 to order it in from Europe you have more coin in your SwapForce bank!
That said, here are the links...As usual, they are in and out of stock throughout the day and night...keep refreshing!
Good luck!

Weekend Update: December 2012 Edition
So, here it is...early morning Monday, December 10th, 2012...I'm finally going to crank this thing out for good!
It has obviously been awhile since I got to do a regular update, so this one may be over due...
Thanksgiving
Ok...so this was a few weeks ago now, but hopefully everyone had a great time. I made the Channel Update video and specifically stressed I was uploading Hot Head and Flashwing's Introductions "out-of-order" for a holiday treat...
That one somehow got overlooked as I was flooded with, "Hey, where is Part xx" or "I canz know c oder parts" and all sorts of stuff I have to step back from and decode...Luckily, a few folks did watch the video and started posting...
I really hate not hitting YouTube comments, but the simple issue is time. It takes an hour or two (yes, each night) to respond to the well intended comments and questions. The biggest time consumer is finding those comments. For every, "Oh, hey...how did you do that" or "Which upgrade path is better" there are 4-5 totally random comments, or people trolling, or insulting other people's comments. If I were to try and take care of the comments like I used to I would never get to record, lol...it is an easy decision.
I make it a point to have the blog link at the top of the video description. If it is important, you can ask here and get a response WAY QUICKER than on YouTube.
In a perfect world I would spend the time to find the comments and questions that are genuine, but between work and trying to sleep 4-6 hours a night the time just hasn't been there. Sometimes I will hit them...especially if I plan to record and the audio has issues.
That said, the blog will always be the best bet to communicate with me or get insight, ask questions, or share your tips!
I'm hopeful at some point I can hit a few each night again...right now it has just been too hectic.
Wii U
Testament to the "busy" schedule here lately is my state with the Wii U. I honestly don't think I've spent more than 4 hours total playing with it...
I basically got a feel for the three games I picked up and explored Miiverse.
That is it...
I will say, especially for those of you here on the blog...You can follow me or add me, just look for "1ofWiisdom."
I had a nice profile comment, but apparently it didn't fly with an administrator...About 2 weeks later I got time to log in and change it, lol.
At least you know from that scenario that I'm truly strapped for time and not just avoiding YouTube comments.
That said, I have really enjoyed it when I've gotten to play around with it...
Nintendo 3DS
Need more proof of my lack of time? I've got Paper Mario Sticker Star sitting on the pool table...in the wrapper :( I've actually acquired a few other gems I might highlight soon...and yes, none have been played, lol.
Street Passin'
Talk about epic...
Those of you that follow along on the blog know that I have a heck of a time getting street pass tags that are not from my nephew. Well, over Thanksgiving I hit a gold mine...Granted, it isn't anything like those of you in a large metropolitan area probably get just running errands, but the few days I was out-of-town netted me roughly 7 Street Pass Tags! Here a few are:
A big thanks to all of you! I thought it was pretty cool Liz was playing Professor Layton and the Last Specter as it is a game I really enjoyed and got me hooked on the Professor Layton series.
Anyway, I was so stoked to finally land some serious Street Pass Action I wanted the pics here, lol.
Skylanders Giants Playthrough
Upload Schedule
Alright, so where is Part 31? Believe it or not, it really is edited and ready to upload...I think I have up through Part 45 ready to go...I just have run into time constraints or a very, very weak signal (ie a 20 min upload turns into 6 hrs 41 minutes). I should get a few of them up very soon...likely tonight!
Current Recordings
As for the playthrough itself, this weekend (Friday night to be exact) I recorded up through roughly Part 61, which will be a compilation of "what we missed" in Chapters 9-12.
What is Next?
My next recordings will be some character introductions...I don't want to spill the beans on who it is...bu you should see their unboxings up pretty soon.
Once I introduce the latest additions I will continue on to Chapters 13-15.
Skylanders Giants: Hunting and Collecting
Well, I am even backlogged here. I am hoping to upload vids from the playthrough tomorrow night while I am recording a few unboxings. There are 2 Skylanders I will not be unboxing...You probably know who they are, but if not, you will find out.
Variants
I have been very diligent in hunting for variants and have come up empty. I honestly think the big issue there is that two of my sources actually have employees who pull them. I'm sure one may snake by when they are off, but that makes the slim pickings down right scarce. I'm always optimistic and keep looking...even at the old SSA stuff, lol.
I have a lot I could add here, but I think I'll leave it at that...
Scorpion Striker Battle Pack
I pre-ordered mine last week and short of an ice storm I hope to pick it up on New Year's Day. If you need info on this, just check out my blog post: http://www.1ofwiisdom.blogspot.com/2012/12/scorpion-striker-battle-pack-with-zap.html
Blog Polls
What's that? Yep...I finally found the time to archive the results from the most recent round of polls!
Archived

New Polls
Somehow, I even made a new poll. This one should be interesting as I had the idea of spicing things up by taking on Kaos with box-stock Skylanders. I figured it would make things a lot more challenging and possibly get more Skylanders involved in the final showdown.
Please note that I will have them upgraded for the Nightmare Mode save file...I just thought this was a nice way to differentiate things.
Blog Poll #37 Stock or Upgraded?

Skylanders Battle Tournament (Poll Based)
I've really wanted to make this happen, but have lacked the time. My other issue is that most of what I want to do needs Hot Dog or the other Giants out and well known before they can really be conducted fairly. That said, I may work around it...we will see what happens.
If all goes well I might even have a new round of Battle Polls up this week!
Currently Playing

Christmas
Can you believe it is only 15 days until Christmas? Very hard to believe! Hope everyone is excited and has their plans to see family, friends, avoid school, and get some game time mixed in with everything else!
Conclusion
Well, it is now pretty late and I'm beat. I hope to upload a few vids tomorrow night while recording a few unboxings...Oh, and there are more surprises! Why is it that all the cool stuff seems to happen at the same time? Oh well...I'd rather have cool stuff piled up and backlogged than no excitement at all.
Hope everyone had a good weekend and is ready for Christmas!
{The junk below was me vaguely updating this post as time allowed...I figured instead of deleting it I just as well leave it up.}
Coming Soon...as in later today/tonight.
I was, as you know, out-of-town for Thanksgiving. I got back last weekend, but have been very busy. The good news is I have some cool updates AND I have recorded quite a bit more Skylanders action thru the week.
I uploaded a few vids tonight and should pick back up tomorrow after a Christmas Party.
I also believe I got caught up on all the blog comments...If I somehow missed yours just post it again or let me know. As always, I put a priority on the blog over YouTube and Facebook etc.
I also have a few blog posts in progress, most notably the "poll result" posts....I should crank those out soon.
I have also FINALLY added videos to the Skylanders Giants Blind Playthough Post and will get all the video descriptions added very soon.
Stay tuned!
12/7/2012 UPDATE
Well, I guess this is a compilation weekend update now.
Anyway, I will wrap this one up tomorrow (hopefully) as well as hitting all the other posts.
I do want to mention the following:
Toys'R'Us
Buy One Get One 50% Off All Skylanders (SSA and Giants) at TRU
Buy One Get One 50% Off All Video Games (Great for Wii U Titles)
Both of these sales are good thru 12/8/2012, or in laymen's terms...Saturday.
I actually took advantage of the Skylanders sale and will have some new content to work on...
GameStop
I pre-ordered the Scorpion Striker Battle Pack and confirmed 1/1/13 as the street date. I also confirmed they have no insight as to when Wave 3 will drop.
I really think I'll get quite a bit done this weekend...keep your fingers crossed. You should see new videos as early as tomorrow.
You should see:
-Playlist adds
-Unboxing of Three Skylanders
-Showcase vids on Two Skylanders
-Playlist Blog Post Fully Updated
-Bonus Skylanders Merchandise Video
Check back later this weekend! I'm hitting the hay!
1ofWiisdom

Wii
-Skylanders Giants
-Wii Fit Plus
3DS
-Skylanders Spyro's Adventure
-New Super Mario Bros. 2 (tried out the free Coin Rush Pack, lol)
Currently Listening

-Home Audio (At Home): Audioslave, Hootie & The Blowfish, and Gary Allan
{The junk below was me vaguely updating this post as time allowed...I figured instead of deleting it I just as well leave it up.}
Coming Soon...as in later today/tonight.

Updates Coming Soon 10/17/2012
Hey Everyone,
First off my apologies on not getting to the blog comments...I've always made it a point to get to them the night of (ie within 24 hours of you posting). I've done that with the exception of this past week.
*I will hit all of them tomorrow night...
I think the last time I recorded anything for uploading (June) I mentioned that I was going to be pretty busy up through mid-October; Prophecy fulfilled.
The good news is the big project I had going on is now wrapped up and I just lack some loose ends to take care of...It is always a big relief to get something like that taken care of...Sadly it has nothing to do with gaming, but since it does take up my free time it did impact how much time I had to game etc.
I am planning to record a video tomorrow (Thursday)...possibly two of them.
One will be a video I promised and can just now make happen and the other will be a channel update and some plans for Giants.
I honestly have not recorded anything (Mario Kart Wii or Mario Party 9) since June. The little I did record was few Skylanders Battles and I think I did a few matches in SSBB. I do plan to upload them...I actually wanted to do it long ago.
I also have my personal Skylander ranks that I recorded months ago, but I can't seem to find the videos?! I started to upload them and then pulled the vids because I didn't want that to sway any of the initial Skylander Battle Tournaments.
I have done Wii Fit most nights as it is routine, but past that and a few stray Skylander Battles or Super Smash Bros. Brawl I haven't gotten to do much with the Wii. I did complete New Super Mario Bros. 2 on the 3DS pretty quickly. Aside from that and the usual Find Mii/Street Pass Tags I haven't done much there either...
As mentioned though, the event I had to prepare for that went down this past weekend has now come and gone and I can sort of begin to relax a bit and catch up...
I'll try to cover more in the video...
That said, I am planning a very nice Giants post that will be exclusively here on the blog so stay tuned for that.
See you tomorrow!

Street Passing Abroad...In America
So...
Those of you that follow the blog, especially the "Weekly Updates" likely note that I begin most installments with the same ol' gripe about not getting street pass tags...ever.
Well, last week I nailed this beauty! Mind you, this was far from home on yet another road trip, but I certainly didn't expect it.
I was fortunate enough to be able to get a tag with someone from Ecuador! So many thanks to Alex for being in the same region that I was at the time!
This might even be one that some of you in more "populated areas" that don't necessarily get a lot of foreigners like say a NYC or LA would get might have yet to receive!
That said, I still look at some of the "accomplishments" and wonder how I'll ever pull them off short of going to Tokyo or something. I mean, "100" in one day? I think I've barely clipped 100 as is. Nonetheless, this was a very nice surprise and I can't complain about that.
Here is in all the glory that is a Street Pass Tag from someone from a foreign country!
And just fyi, I have no clue why there isn't map data for it?!
So yeah, check me out...I have Mii characters from 3 Regions and 2 Countries (meaning Ecuador counts for 1 of the 2 Regions)...How lopsided is that?
Nonetheless, it is what it is and that was a very pleasant and unexpected surprise. Just for the record that is also the only Street Pass Tag I picked up on that quick trip.
And yes, I totally think it justifies having its own post, lol.
What are your Street Pass Tag bragging rights? Anyone gotten the 100 in a day? What about overall? How many regions have you gotten tagged?

Weekly Update: August 9th, 2012
Hey...so this is kind of strange. I mean, don't get me wrong...it is well after midnight (3:59 AM to be exact) and here I am posting the (well part of what will be) the weekly update EARLY.
I say that because technically it is Wednesday night to me, ie the sun hasn't come up on Thursday and I usually post this Thursday night when the sun hasn't come up on Friday.
I'll go into that logic more later on...like this time tomorrow.
Aaaaanyway....
Big news.
I'm planning to upload 4 videos tomorrow...Shocked?
There has just been a lot going on here lately and I didn't have any of the recorded stuff edited and ready for upload...That has changed as I am now 100% caught up on the edited recordings. That is to say...everything I currently have recorded, is edited! (Well, with the exception of PT#3...which is the long rumored, tragic playthrough that I'll detail in one of the upcoming vids).
4 New Videos
So, by this time tomorrow you should see:
-Mario Kart Wii Part 5
-General Update Video with details on Vids 3 and 4 and, perhaps more importantly, info on what I was recording that got majorly messed up.
-Video 3
-Video 4...Kind of goes with Video 3, but you'll have to wait for it.
Yeah, so does that mean anything to you? Probably not, but the good news is I feel like one of the giant boulders on my shoulders has been lifted.
I will use your feedback on the "update video" to decide what to do about the "tragic playthrough." I think it'll all make sense once you see the video.
After that, I can resume uploading and simultaneously record the rest of Mario Kart Wii and whatever turns out to be Video 3 and Video 4.
So there you have it...an early update at 4:05 AM that just might make sense to some of you who are tired enough to actually be on the same brain wave as me at this point.
Nonetheless, stay tuned for the updates tonight...I'll then come in and update this post in the usual fashion...to distinguish I'll even make a snazzy dividing line:
^-^ This part of the Weekly Update was cranked out 8/9/2012 around 4 AM and probably won't make much sense....^-^
====================================================================
This part of the Weekly Update was cranked out later in the day when I was awake and is probably where you want to start reading....
Google +
Well, this is the FIRST announcement of the newest developments and something I've worked on the last few nights. I am now on Google +. I know a lot of people signed up and left, or simply haven't taken the time to explore it. So far I am really liking it...It offers a lot of possibility to connect better and in my opinion is way more user friendly than those other "social networking sites."
You are welcome to add me to your Circles...I'll likely place it below the blog and Twitter, but above Facebook.
My favorite, and preferred medium of communication, is of course here on the blog. I do enjoy YouTube, but it has just become way too daunting to try and keep up with all the comments...It is especially hard to go thru and look for the "important" ones over some that are just totally random and pointless "ie I heart Justin" etc. I have had in the video descriptions and even mention it at the end of videos for quite some time that the blog is THE BEST PLACE to get a quick reply. I'm not sure many people listen to that, but oh well. I know those of you reading this are aware and hopefully realize I respond to blog comments pretty much every night (barring something crazy).
Twitter can't be beat for really quick udpates...and since I can have it display on the blog, it makes perfect sense as a compliment to the in depth posts.
I think Google + will function like Facebook does right now for me, but I'll probably provide more details there. Nonetheless, I'm excited to see how it goes and if anyone else is on and how they like the new interaction abilities.
So, if you read this you can beat the rush and be one of the first to check out the new page:

So there you go...All 4 Videos just as promised!
I will now kind of recap everything:
Skylanders Giants
Check out the updated blog post for all the latest on Skylanders Giants:
Skylanders Merchandise
Some of you may have missed this one, nothing too crazy, but some cool stuff to look forward to this fall:
Skylanders Battle Tournament
All 4 of our Round 3 Matchups have over 200 Votes! The margins aren't as close as the previous rounds, but we saw several late runs in Round 1 and Round 2...that could certainly happen here.
I will sadly not be able to record the Round 3 Results and Round 4 Matchup vids right when the polls wrap up, but I will get them recorded and live as soon as I am back and able to do so...
I should be able to get the Round 4 Polls up...Check here on the blog or Twitter to keep up to date there.
A big thanks to everyone who has voted..we are getting close to the Championship Showdown!
Mario Kart Wii
I have up thru Part 16 edited and ready to upload. I hope to take on 150cc and record it while uploading the current stockpile of videos.
Mario Party 9
This is just going to be a quick and casual playthrough of a game I feel doesn't get much love. I mainly just want to show the boards and of course highlight the bosses and minigames we encounter along the way.
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
I really wanted to record this one. A lot of you really wanted me to record this one. I started recording this one and everything went wrong. A 17 minute video track and a 25 minute commentary track will never sync and there is no editing trick in the world to really make this even remotely close. That is extremely unfortunate as I think it would have been very cool.
The main reason for this update video, aside from the Skylanders Battle Tournament info, is to get your feedback on Skyward Sword.
I can upload things sync'd as best I can...without commentary...edited to my best ability etc and just hope for the best, I can attempt to start from scratch, or I can just can it all together.
This is a great game and I feel bad not being able to offer a quality video for all parts...I have recorded 7 installments now and none of them are really going to be great...some are downright horrible in terms of how they sync up.
With the game being requested by so many, I wanted to get your feedback.
As you know, I can't just go in and replay certain scenes, so it would require a new save file...And that of course, might just result in the same issues.
I will upload it if people want to see it and realize there are going to be audio/video issues, or I can simply move on...You tell me. In fact, I think I'll make a poll on it...
Conclusion
Well, it is really late and I need to try and get some sleep. Keep the votes coming in the Battle Tournament...I'll do my best to have the new polls live when they should be...result and matchup vids will come as soon as I'm back.
Mario Kart Wii and Mario Party 9 will resume and should both be done well before Giants.
I will kind of go with the flow on Skyward Sword...let me know what you want to see and I'll try to make it happen.

Weekly Update: First Week of August 2012
Hey Everyone,
It was another busy week, but not without some cool announcements...Let's get started with the run down and go from there.
Skylanders Battle Tournament
I was out-of-town, but got to post the Round 2 Results and Round 3 Matchup Videos. As of right now there are 7 days left to vote in Round 3 (Elite Eight). Each contest has over 150 votes at this point, but the matches are not as close as they have been in the past...granted, that can change (especially with a week left). The vote margins run from 24-57 at the time of typing this post out. You can vote in the polls by scrolling down this page, finding the Twitter Feed, and then the polls will be right below.
You can also keep up with all the developments here:
http://www.1ofwiisdom.blogspot.com/2012/06/skylanders-battle-tournament.html
Nintendo 3DS
Street Passin'
Well, with being out-of-town one should have the chance to get more and unique Street Pass Tags....If you follow the blog you know I hardly ever do. This past weekend I did get 2, but neither registered for Find Mii or Puzzle Swap?? I'm not sure what the deal is there, but I at least got 2 new tags in Mario Tennis Open and got to bump the win streak up 2 matches! One opponent was fully equipped and the other was just in casual Mii trim. I'm not sure how I didn't get to use them for Find Mii/Puzzle Swap, but oh well.
Thanks to these two...whoever you may be, lol:
IF I'd have had genuine Street Pass tags, I'd have taken the time to rotate the photos...I snapped them at like 6 AM in the hotel room so work with me, lol.
Find Mii II
I have actually progressed quite nicely on this one...thanks in large part to using Play Coins. I am in the first level of the castle and was able to breeze through the Pink Slime right before that and got a sweet "Critical Hit" that finished off the otherwise tough Granite Golem with one swing.
Coming Soon
August 19th is coming up really quick and that is the day you can get your hands on the 3DS XL and New Super Mario Bros. 2. I'd really like an XL, but with my Aqua Blue 3DS in hand I can't really justify getting a new one at this point...Although that would allow me instant Street Pass Tags anytime I had both on...that might be worth it, lol.
If you pick up New Super Mario Bros. 2 in stores and register it, you can get 50 Coins in Club Nintendo. Since this is the first, in a likely long line of future releases, that you can "download" from the eShop, Nintendo has put a 100 Coin bounty on the title to encourage that action.
I'm sure this is to test the waters and see how it stacks up with the mobile market, but I am one who simply likes to have the concrete product in my hand. My only reason to buy from the eShop in this case is to get the extra coinage...tempting, but not enough to sway from my preferred medium. If you plan to get the game, be sure to say so in Club Nintendo for bonus coins.
Club Nintendo
Speaking of Club Nintendo...Today (August 6th, 2012) is the last day to get your Gold or Platinum Gift. I'm Platinum and was torn between the cards and poster set. In all honesty I would like the calendar more, but it is not a full wall calendar...Plus Gold can get it. Majora's Mask was very, very tempting...but, in the end I went for the cards. I figure most will do the posters, making the cards that much more "unique." I like the posters, but I see the cards being easier to display. I put my order in tonight...As usual, December 20th or so was the estimated date. Keep in mind if you go with a game, it is available IMMEDIATELY.
Skylanders Update
And in yet another segway, I also just sent out my first two Skylander Sidekick Offers. I went for Terrabite and Trigger Snappy. I'm not sure if I'll go for the remaning 2 or not...It isn't a horrible deal, but I'm also not big on the hassle of buying something I ordinarily don't (the bigger the bag of chips, the bigger the savings) and I'm mainly just not a fan of their insanely vague offering system. For all I know, both offers I sent in will return a Gill Runt. If things were nailed down I'd have probably sent in 4 forms. As is, I'm fine waiting and seeing what happens.
Heroic Challenges
I am still working to get all the main Skylanders (37), fully upgraded and through all 32 Heroics...I'm not in any hurry...I like to use it as a change of pace and to stay fresh with "Skylands" at this point.
Giants Updates
We really haven't had any big developments...aside from this one.
Earlier this week, GameStop announced that they had teamed up with Activision for an Exclusive "Battle Pack." This turned out to be the Golden Dragonfire Cannon Battle Pack. It consists of: Series 2 Reposed Chop Chop, the Golden Dragonfire Cannon, and Shroomboom. It is up for pre-order right now at the price of $24.99. As best I know, this will only unlock a new battle arena...it is not an adventure pack as some have reported. I would really like it to be, especially at that price, but it looks like it just unlocks an arena. Hopefully the Dragonfire Cannon will serve a unique role in the course of the game to make up for not being an actual level/chapter.
Skylanders Hunting
This first shot was at Target. They don't have much, especially compared to all the "out-of-town" Targets I have been to recently. That said, I posted this for a reason. This is the very first time I have seen Dragon's Peak at this store! It is also the first time I have seen Lightning Rod, Zook, and Warnado (all in singles) at my local Target. The rest of the line up was: Dark Light Crypt, Empire of Ice, Chop Chop, Eruptor, Flameslinger, Wrecking Ball, and Boomer. The lone Triple Pack was Drobot, Flameslinger, and Stump Smash.
I also want to point out that I went back to the store 2 nights later...All that was left was Dark Light Crypt!
Next up is a local store that has a better stock...Pretty much everything but the Adventure Packs and Wham-Shell.
I had a few people ask me why I still look at Skylanders when I have the complete set. First, it is kind of a habit at this point. Second, I like to keep tabs for myself and others as many still don't have the complete set. Lastly, you never know when a new variant will spring up, or when you might land an already known variant...Just this past week I've seen 2 people get Crystal Stealth Elf...Most people gave up on that and Glow-in-the-Darks weeks ago...It is unlikely, but not impossible...I like the odds!
Current Projects
I just edited a few more Mario Kart Wii videos...I should upload one or two later tonight as a matter of fact. That said, I am obviously working on editing up through Part 16 which were all recorded over 2 months ago!
Once Part 8 of MKW is uploaded I will spring Mystery Game 1 in the mix...I'm just doing a quick playthrough on it..nothing major, but I think it is a fun game that doesn't get much love.
We still have the initial Skylanders Battle Tournament going and I have plenty lined up for later on...

As for the 3DS end of things...I am working towards unlocking all the items in Mario Tennis Open...I just lack 25 at this point, although it is seemingly taking forever. I really want to get Professor Layton and the Curious Village wrapped up ASAP. I'd like to have an open slot for New Super Mario Bros. 2 and some other things.

Conclusion
Well, that does it for this week. I should have some new videos going up this week and I am really hoping to get back to recording...The main thing is to have Mario Kart Wii and "Mystery Game 1" wrapped up and uploaded by the time Giants comes out. Obviously, the sooner they get done, the sooner I can move on to something else before Giants...However much of a time window I've got will kind of dictate what I decide to record before hand.
I will hope for a regular (Thursday/Friday) update for this week and might have some more news to spring then, or very shortly there after.
Well, hope you enjoyed the post and stay tuned for some big udpates. Also make sure to vote in the Skylanders Battle Tournament! It is just 2 months and 15 days until Giants!!

Weekly Update: Mid July 2012
Hey Everyone,
It is almost 4 AM...I had planned to be doing this blog post around 11 PM. I'm very tired...like I have been all day. That said, I think I am going to push it back till tomorrow (well tonight).
I've got a video uploading, updated the Giants Info earlier, and have added Metal Mario to the Mario Tennis Open QR Code Post...That should help you out a bit. I do have some cool stuff to post, and pics from a few weeks. Stay tuned for that and more later tonight!
Alright, so this update is a bit over due...I have been out-of-town quite a bit here lately and time hasn't exactly been on my side. Nonetheless, there is a lot going on, so let's get it covered.
Nintendo 3DS
Street Passin'
If you read the intro, you know I have been out-of-town quite a bit the last few weeks. Anyone care to guess how many StreetPass Tags I picked up? Anyone? Don't think too hard...
The answer is...ZERO!
I honestly just don't get it. Around my home town I don't pick up any (aside from friends) and any time I run errands I have the 3DS on in Sleep Mode just in case. That said, when I go out-of-town for work or vacation and wind up somewhere with 2-10x the population of my immediate area I kind of expect big things...or at least like 5 tags over the trip etc. But I continually come up empty. At the hotels I even walk the halls in the morning and carry it to the lobbies hoping to pick up tags, but it works to no avail.
All of those "accomplishments" like 10 StreetPass Tags kind of seem daunting under this scenario...Think how I, and those in similar positions, feel about the "100 StreetPass Tags in one day" thing!? I honestly feel like I'd have to hit a convention of 3DS Owners, LA, NYC, or Tokoyo to pull this one off.
And that is a great segway for this...
Find Mii II
A few of you will recall how excited I was to finally beat Find Mii. Keep in mind, this takes a lot longer when you deal with Wandering Heroes who are Level 1 or Level 2 at best. I can't imagine getting tags from real people and breezing through it in a few attempts. I basically miss out on the accolades when you need the "Light Blue" to break the shield and "White" to light the room. I'm tempted to get to those points, drive to GameStop, reset their demo 3DS, and build a Mii with the needed description.
Anyway, I was finally able (thanks largely to my friend's tags always being Level 7) to get through Find Mii for the second time! This is as many as you have to play to get all the hats. Granted you can replay it as much as you want, and I think there are accomplishments for this (beat FM 5 times etc), but for the time being all I am concerned with is the hats.
And here is the grand prize after the 2nd time through:
Pretty sweet imo...This basically replicates the Ultimate Ghost! Here are some other end slides for those interested:
As you know, it is hard to get good shots of the 3DS Screen...There were all taken with my Galaxy S III.
The real treat here is getting to advance to Find Mii 2:
It is quite a bit more complex than Find Mii, but I won't go into it too much. I will share this hilarious screen shot though:
So yeah, apparently if I was to breed with another Royal Mii this would be the offspring on either side...The Prince on the Left and the Princess on the Right. I suppose the facial hair makes the Princess unique among her peers, lol.
That is about where I left off...took out a few monsters and picked my first path in FMII...I'm looking forward to seeing how it ends.
Nintendo 3DS News
And, this is kind of why I had planned to do the blog Thursday night (July 19th), but we are now one month away from...
New Super Mario Bros. 2!! This game looks awesome! I'm a big fan of the Koopalings having grown up with them and still considering Super Mario World one, if not the, greatest game of all time. It looks like cons will be king in this one and there seem to be a few new tricks. I am looking forward to it and plan to pick it up release week if not the release date....which is August 19th, 2012.
That same day the 3DS XL launches. It will have a screen that is 90% bigger and for folks with larger hands, like myself, it will probably be more comfortable to hold and subsequently play for long periods of time.
I would also bank on a package deal at most retailers that week.
I would really like to have the XL, but can't really justify spending the "coin" just to be more comfortable and I don't want to trade in my now discontinued AquaBlue 3DS. Plus, with the Wii U and its' incredible line-up of games launching late this year I really can't justify it.
That said, if you have held out on a 3DS this is your time to go for it. The XL will play great, be easier on the eyes, and just with NSMB2, MK7, and SM3DL you have three great games to get you going. Plus, there are even more on the horizon...
Mario Tennis Open
And speaking of the 3DS and great games, Mario Tennis Open offers a lot of gameplay options. The addition of add-on characters via QR Codes is pretty cool and something I'd love to see continue, provided them being FREE. The big release this week was the long awaited Metal Mario! I have updated the blog post to include his QR Code. If you just got the game and are looking for some cool add-ons, look no further:
http://www.1ofwiisdom.blogspot.com/2012/06/mario-tennis-open-special-qr-code-yoshi.html
Skylanders Updates
Alright, this is probably what most of you were waiting for...lots going on here. I have the fresh batteries in the portal to wrap up all the Heroic Challenges for the full cast...which will be important and useful for GIANTS!
Skylanders Giants
A little more info on the new installment has leaked and I updated the blog post to reflect that:
http://www.1ofwiisdom.blogspot.com/2012/06/skylanders-giants-information.html
I did swing by GameStop this past week and asked about the "pre-order all character" rumor that has been going around. The manager said that it wasn't happening and if it was, no one had told them. He did say he heard something about 3 coming with the pre-order...which I don't know if he means the 3 you'd get anyway, or 3 additional etc.
Skylanders Sidekicks
The time window to land Skylander Sidekicks here in the US is July 8th, 2012 - November 2nd, 2012. I actually found the specially marked mutipack and picked up two of them...You have to send in the order form inside, UPC, and $2 to get one...And your first choice isn't guaranteed...It is a bit of a strange system, but I'm hopeful that the early submitals will get what we want. Nonetheless, I shot a video of the package, the order form, and all the info you'd hopefully want to know which you can find here:
http://www.1ofwiisdom.blogspot.com/2012/07/skylanders-sidekicks.html
I really don't think the sidekicks will do much more than follow you around, but I will hold out hope they at least pick up items or something. A hilarious action after defeating enemies or a stage would be a perk...but I really think they'll just kind of be a bonus visual.
If I get one back I will video the unboxing and then gameplay for everyone's records.
I had intended to get the "Classic Multipack" at the grocery store, but accidentally grabbed another "Flavor Mix Multipack" instead...Target didn't have the special Classic Mix...here is what I spotted:
Skylanders Battle Tournament
This is going over pretty well...I skimmed the comments last night while half-asleep and there seems to be a bit of confusion as to how it works...
There was a poll asking "Who is Your Favorite Skylander" a while back. Warnado was #1 and Boomer was #32. I used this ranking system for this particular bracket. So 1 vs 32, 2 vs 31, 3 vs 30, 4 vs 29 etc. The rest panned out in the fashion where 1 has the easiest path (ranking wise) and 4 has the hardest path (ranking wise)...Just like a basketball playoff etc.
The "Battles" are actually ran by the poll. You vote for who you think would win...which is usually going to be your favorite, USUALLY. Let's face it, if someone likes Gill Grunt the best, they will think he is going to win every match and can vote so. If they aren't as diehard they may think he'll be x, y, and z but has no chance against q, w, and r etc.
I think most people get that....
#1 Warnado is currently getting slaughtered by #16 Slam Bam...which based on that difference, which was huge, it seems people understand we are voting for who you think would win. Granted, a lot of people that really like Warnado will think he could win etc.
I like Warnado way more than Boomer overall, but I honestly think Boomer would take him down in a battle...
That said, things are going fine and there only seem to be a few confused.
And the other issue of "is the poll who determines who wins, or do you play offline" is, as you should know after the above, all based on the poll. The reason it isn't based on me running the battles is because there is no single player option...which is why I am doing the "Battle Tournament" via the poll. It is pretty simple really, but I think if you have any questions you can find the answers here:
http://www.1ofwiisdom.blogspot.com/2012/06/skylanders-battle-tournament.html
That said, in the next 'results' and 'Round 3' videos I will begin each with clarifications to help those uncertain etc.
Skylanders Hunting
As forewarned, despite having the base collection...I still look, mainly for variants. I have yet to see a Crystal or Glow-in-the-Dark in person. I am kind of thinking we might see a translucent Whilrwind or something on down the road though, so I will continue to look...Plus I just like to see how things are shaking up.
I have a backlog of pics here, but this is what I found most interesting....
Here is my local Target this week:
I hope you like Hex or Wrecking Ball because that is all they have. I also want you to look at the size of the display...There are 12 Racks (and the Exclusive Whirlwind sign).
Now look at what I found on the road...This is a Target I went to on a trip:
Talk about a stark comparison! 22 Racks for Singles, 2 for Stylus packs, and 8 for Triple Packs or Adventure Packs! They had pretty much everything but Wave 5 Singles.
A small store near me had a nice selection, but no Wham-Shell:
As mentioned I have a few more pics, but nothing too crazy. I do want to post this one though..it is the special sign for TRDS:
And yes, all they had was Wrecking Ball and Boomer, lol.
I still think we will/should see a Translucent Whirlwind for Target...although I still think Translucent Green would be killer for Stump Smash!
Current Projects
There is quite a bit going on...and I haven't had much time to work on any of it :(
The Mario Kart Wii playthrough hasn't been touched since the start of June...that said, I still recorded a ton of it, just haven't edited past Part 4. I may work on that this coming week.
I have a quick playthrough going on with that one, but it hasn't been touched since mid-June.
The same goes for my big "mystery game." I've said it before, but I had major audio issues with this one...And sadly they have continued when I did try to record twice recently...I'll have to see how it pans out.
Once MKW and the partner playthrough wrap-up I may just come clean about this one and see if folks want to see it despite the massive audio/video issues, which I hope don't continue.

I'm anxiously awaiting a chance to pre-order the Wii U...I figure it will be insanely popular and hard to come by without doing so...
I would like to pre-order Giants IF there is going to be something special...otherwise I'd just assume pick it up as the games rarely go out of stock.
Any news on pre-ordering figures I will jump on...those, unlike the game, will probably be quite the pain.
I recorded two random unboxings (OREO Cookie Jar because I thought it was cool, and a the Samsung Galaxy S III because I had several people ask for it). If you go back I actually do this type of stuff from time-to-time, lol...so it isn't anything brand new. I think I even did a Rayovac Lithium Ion Battery Charger...which is still serving me well!
The Galaxy S III has been an awesome phone! I got it July 4th and it did an amazing job recording fireworks. The camera is also great. Huge screen, incredible resolution, and it has yet to drop a call etc...which I still consider important in a phone.
I really want to get Mario Kart Wii and its "partner" playthrough done asap so I can attempt to record and upload the Mystery Game, which will likely be pretty long...All in time for Giants. If the Mystery Game doesn't pan out I will be going back a few years for the next playthrough...It is a great game and I have it on the agenda...Most have probably never played it.
Conclusion
Well, I finally got an update post done...feels good, even though it is 4 AM Saturday morning. You should start to see a few more Mario Kart Wii vids soon...and I have Part 1 of the partner playthrough ready to edit (like it has been for 6 weeks or so, lol)...I might get it up too...
Hope everyone enjoyed the update. And don't forget to check out the Skylanders Sidekicks, Skylanders Battle Tournament, Skylanders Giants Info, and Mario Tennis Open QR Code posts!
Have a good weekend!

Other Stuff
