Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure: Wham-Shell's Introduction and Heroic Challenge
Part 107 of our Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure Playthrough showcases the introduction and Heroic Challenge of our final Skylander, Wham-Shell. Check it out:
Wham-Shell was quite the challenge to track down, but looks like he should upgrade nicely.
I would like to again make a point to thank Michael (8 years old) and Matthew (6 years old) for finding Camo and Warnado at a local Walmart and talking their Dad, David, into picking up the extra of each to send to me. I turned the offer down thanks to having just pre-ordered them, but I think there is not enough emphasis put on the "good" things in life. David, Michael, and Matthew got into Skylanders and have enjoyed the videos and the blog and wanted to send me the new, "hard to get" Wave 5 duo. That says an awful lot for Michael and Matthew and I think deserves just as much attention as all the notice given to the scalpers and greedy people cleaning up the racks.
There are still good people in the world and some of them are willing to bend over backward to do nice things. It is the thought that counts here and that really hits home. I've mentioned stuff like this before and felt it needed to be pointed out not only to thank them, but to show case their actions as I am sure they put just as much thought into helping out other people. That is a rare trait to see anymore, but definitely one that will help them both out.
The plan now is to edit and upload a few vids I recorded tonight, which include:
-Earning ALL Portal Master Accolades
-Wrapping up Warnado's Box Stock Heroic Challenge Quest
I will then go ahead and focus on completing the "Mass Upgrades" by element. Part 1 will be the actual upgrades and Part 2 will be gameplay with said upgrades. I think it will work out nicely.
Should there be interest, I will do some in-depth gameplay with requested Skylanders.
After that I have one more thing planned with Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure and I'll see how it goes over...I think most will enjoy it.
This has been a lot of fun and I have met some great people...Good luck tracking down the Skylanders you lack!

Well, almost one month to the date of the Amazon Pre-Order, it happened...No, not the shipping notice to get over joyed about, but something more unlikely....I found Wham-Shell locally! I'm still kind of in shock and this is after unboxing, recording his intro, playing the Heroic Challenge, and getting Grand Admiral, but nonetheless, here it is for you to enjoy:

Where did you get Wham-Shell?
-I got him at a local store, which is not nation wide.
How much did you pay for Wham-Shell?
-As always, I paid retail...in this case $8.99. NEVER pay more than retail.
Where can I get Wham-Shell?
-Locally your best bet is Walmart followed by GameStop.
My local stores never have any new Skylanders, what about online?
-Your best bet at this point online is GameStop. However, once Amazon delivers on the pre-orders I would imagine they will start to have him (that is how it has gone with Wave 4 and now Camo and Warnado).
Will you record his Heroic Challenge and some gameplay?
-Yes, the Heroic Challenge should already be uploaded and you can expect to see a "stock" (no upgrade) gameplay soon followed by a later rendition with Basic Upgrades, and maybe later on a full Upgrade with Soul Gem gameplay.
Is Wham-Shell your final Skylander?
-Yes. He is the final Skylander, 32 of 32. I don't include the Legendaries or Variants in the overall count.

Today was a good day!
StreetPassing
So, if you follow the blog you know I got "StreetPassin'" (see also: driving around town with the windows down and my 3DS on in hopes of landing some Street Pass Tags to pick up Wandering Heroes and Puzzle Pieces.
And if you follow the blog regularly, you will not be surprised when I tell you it was another day of nothingness. I remain eternally optimistic that someday I'll land my first "local" Street Pass Tag.
3DS Update
Profressor Layton and the Last Specter
I wrapped this game up and have to say it was great. I really enjoyed it. My only issue now is I can't find a decently priced copy of the first PL game, "The Curious Village." I may just pick up "Unwound Future" and "Diabolical Box" while I can get then new for retail. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS GAME!!
Goodbye AquaBlue 3DS
Thanks to a NintendoFanGirl retweet, I caught news that the AquaBlue 3DS was being phased out, effective immediately. I guess the new colors will supercede it, or they just think the Cobalt Blue will out sell etc. All I know is I really like my AquaBlue and do not regret picking it up...I actually like it better than the other DS, DSi, and 3DS colors I've seen. So, long story short, if you want an AquaBlue 3DS get it while yo u can!
Mario Tenns Open and Midnight Purple 3DS
Both come out this weekend (Sunday, May 20th, 2012). I think it will be a great game and plan to pick it up later in the week...I've never been a huge fan of Sunday releases in all honesty...I prefer less trafficked dates, lol.
Actual System Updates
First off, the system update from a few weeks ago is still out there as is the mandatory update (if you play online multiplayer) to eliminate the Maka WuHu glitch etc on Mario Kart 7. I have not done either of them...but I suppose I will shortly. I noticed you have to do the system update to access the 3DS Store the other night.

Why not, right? That's what I thought too...
So tonight was a little different. I was a little behind schedule and had originally considered trying Best Buy for Wham-Shell...I ultimately decided against it (I really don't like that store and remain un-phased about not having their exclusive "Volcanic Vault" in case you were unaware).
I ran in Target and was surprised to see some stock had moved and new stuff was in its place:
In a weird move, I just went ahead and skipped Toys'R'Us, GameStop, and Walmart (which will never have a "new" Skylander until they fire the scalper). My logic was they likely wouldn't have anything and I wanted to get home and pick back up on the mass upgrade videos (more on that later).
Well, as you may know I often hit up a regional store that carries Skylanders...I went by and the crowd was abysmal--Naturally that means I had to go in...Needless to say, I am glad I did:
Holy Smorgousborg of Wave 3, 4 and 5 Captain!
You can't see the left side of the rack well, but Zook, Lightning Rod, and Ignitor Single Packs were present from Wave 4, there were 2 Camo and Warnado Single Packs for Wave 5, even the Camo, Ignitor, Warnado Triple Pack was present! You could also find several Cynder, Drill Sergeant, and Double Troubles in addition to Hex, Wrecking Ball, Chop Chop, Stump Smash, Drobot, boomer, and Eruptor. This was the best stock I had seen at this store in quite some time.
I wasn't surprised to not see Wham-Shell on the rack, or to not find him behind the "new" stuff where you're usual assortment of Boomer and Drobot reside. However, my keen 7 year old mindset always looks down, "Wrecking Ball, Wham-Shell, and Stealth Elf...great. Wait...What? Wham-Shell? Really?!"
Oh yeah...there he was...I don't even think he was on the bottom shelf as much as he had taken a spill (we'll call it a jump to keep things more heroic) from the tabs above. I was shocked. I never expected to find a Wham-Shell in my area, especially not this soon and before the Amazon order ships. I'm still kind of shocked in all honesty.
So that is it...the great Skylander hunt is over (although I'll still probably look just because it has kind of become habitual after 8 freakin' months).
Wham-Shell is the 32nd of the 32 base Skylanders. With him I can complete all the in-game Accolades, wrap up recordings, finish upgrades, and all sorts of other stuff I won't go into.
It is sad when it takes you from October to May to complete a collection, but hey...I bet you were (or will be) excited when you land that final Skylander too.
Here he is, just waiting to be unboxed and wreak havoc on Kaos:

Mass Upgrades
The "Mass Upgrades" I have promised for quite some time (I had to get the Heroics done first) are now underway!
The Mass Upgrades will be two-part segments and divided by Element. Thus, Part 1 you willl see the 4 Basic "X" Element Skylanders go from wherever they are at, down an Upgrade Path, and pick up their Soul Gem. Part 2 will feature those fully upgraded Skylanders showing off their new moves in some gameplay segments.
Last night I recorded the first two rounds of "Mass Upgrades." I began with Magic and Tech. Basically I go thru, take each character (base only, no Legendaries or Variants), continue upgrading them, pick their upgrade path, and purchase the Soul Gem.
I had planned to record random gameplay of the upgraded Skylanders tonight, but with Wham-Shell in the mix I will get that taken care of ASAP!
You can expect to see the Mass Upgrade Vids start trickling out very soon.

I think I am more excited about what Wham-Shell will allow me to do than I am about actually seeing how he plays. With Wham-Shell now in my possession, I can record and upload his unboxing (going on as we speak), record his Introduction with basic abilities and Heroic Challenge, and then wrap up Warnado's Heroic Challenge Quest.
I will also be able to pin down the stats on his Heroic Challenge and thus complete the Skylanders: Heroic Challenge List blog post from last week.
Warnado's Heroic Challenge Quest
Just in case you skim topics as opposed to read the whole post, I'll say it again. With Wham-Shell, I can now go in and record the final four Heroic Challenges for Warnado! The last video (Part 105) will feature HC #25, 30, 31, and 32. I held out recording those three to add in with Wham-Shell's to make for a nice video.
As you should know by now, Part 104 is recorded, but the commentary doesn't sync well thanks to gameplay. If I get time I'll re-record it, otherwise I'll upload what I've got.
But now, shortly after you see Wham-Shell's Intro Video you should see Parts 104 and Part 105 completing Warnado's Heroic Challenge Quest...which will allow me to upgrade him!!

Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure Camo and Warnado Gameplay
As promised, I have recorded some gameplay of box-stock (no upgrades) Camo and Warnado, here it is:
Please note that Warnado was fresh off the Heroic Challenge list where I stopped with 30, 31, and 32 remaining. I did that to have something to record with Wham-Shell's Heroic Challenge (#25). I figured those 4 HCs would make a nice video. With Warnado at Level 8 after 28 Heroic Challenges, I am pretty sure he would have hit Level 10 by the time he made it thru all 32.
Camo was taken thru the Speed Challenges and a few others as well as one complete round of Quickslilver Vault, hence why he had a nice wad of cash and was already at Level 10.
I say it in the video and I will say it again...both Warnado and Camo did very well in Quicksilver Vault. I have had several Skylanders go down in the process of just playing thru the level to collect cash and/or level up (Wrecking Ball is among them). For these two Skylanders to have no upgrades and make it thru unscathed says a lot about their potential.
As soon as I have a few upgrades under their belt (probably up to "picking a path") I will record more gameplay, this time in Leviathan Lagoon as it was requested by several users.

For these two Skylanders to have no upgrades and make it thru unscathed says a lot about their potential.
As soon as I have a few upgrades under their belt (probably up to "picking a path") I will record more gameplay, this time in Leviathan Lagoon as it was requested by several users.

Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure Unboxing Triple Pack H: Camo, Ignitor, Warnado
Having waited on the Amazon.com pre-order, I had a hard time passing up the instant gratitude of ordering the Camo, Ignitor, Warnado Triple Pack from GameStop.com I pulled the trigger and got it in Thursday, May 3rd, 2012. Here is the unboxing:
I have to say, it is only fitting I got "notice of pending shipment" from Amazon the next day, but hey, what can you do? Wham-Shell is all I lack at this point and I am hoping Amazon gets him out pretty soon. In the mean time I will definitely enjoy having Camo and Warnado around.
As many of you know, I have been waiting for Warnado to come out since debut week. I picked up those large posters they had at the game demo during launch week and nailed Warnado down as a potential favorite...I can finally see if he delivers.

Last Week's Update 4/27/2012, Today!
3:40 AM on a Wednesday morning seems like a great time to post what was supposed to be done this past weekend right?
I thought so too...
Anyway, I have been insanely busy. I still make it a point to respond to blog comments every night, and I believe I have been able to hit Twitter and Facebook comments as well. YouTube comments are still backlogged...big time. Like I've said, I'll get to them...eventually.
Skylanders Update
Camo, Warnado, and Wham-Shell
The biggest question I have been getting lately is: "Do you have Wave 5 yet?," or, "Is your collection complete?"
To answer that...it is pending
Yeah, I know, great answer right, but that is how it stands.
Amazon Pre-Order: Camo, Warnado, and Wham-Shell
I got in on the Amazon pre-order of Camo, Warnado, and Wham-Shell on April 18th, right as Wham-Shell was appearing in stores here in the US.
I figured to give it a week and they would ship. I was right...about a week later, several folks started getting their Camo and Warnado.
I wasn't too worried as I figured they were just waiting on Wham-Shell before shipping my order (you bet I'm cheap and opted for FREE SUPER SAVER SHIPPING!). In all honesty, Amazon is awesome. I've never had an issue with them, their prices are lower than TRU and GameStop, and if you order $25 or more you get free shipping.
I have noticed the last few days (basically since Thursday of last week) folks have been getting shipping confirmation AND their Camo and Warnao figures. Oddly enough, a few people have reported Amazon dividing their order and shipping Camo & Warnado while holding off on Wham-Shell...and yes, they also opted for free Super Saver Shipping.
So, all along the idea was to wait on Amazon unless I found the final three locally...and yeah, no dice there (which is why I pre-ordered in the first place, lol).
GameStop Triple Pack: Camo, Ignitor, and Warnado
The big news here went down about 24 hours ago. For whatever reason, I got my work done and decided to LOG IN to GameStop. I did that and via the Wishlist I had access to Ignitor, Camo, and Warnado singles...oh, and the Triple Pack.
I have Ignitor from the 3DS Starter Pack, but when I can pay $19.98 for Camo and Warnado, or $19.99 for Camo, Warnado, AND Ignitor I will take the Triple Pack. Ignitor is certainly a character I won't mind having the option of upgrading down a second upgrade path, especially for a penny.
And as usual, GameStop got it processed overnight, and I should have it here on Thursday...pretty sweet imo! As promised, as soon as I have it in hand I will unbox it, introduce Camo and Warnado, and then record their Heroic Challenges.
Gameplay Progress
This is the other big question. As stated, I am simply taking Skylanders up through the Heroic Challenge ladder. I have said that I will record a big upgrade video and that remains the plan...however, I want to see what the last three Heroic Challenges will be like (I hate spoilers, so I don't read or watch anything on them...it just takes away from the experience that you can only get the first time).
I should have Warnado and Camo to check out late this week so that will be a big plus. If their Heroic Challenges are simple (ie having an upgraded Skylander is a benefit and doesn't make things a nightmare (cough, Double Trouble's challenge, cough), I can possibly record the mass upgrade video
The latest to hit the 29/32 mark (best I can do for now) is Dino-Rang, a very underappreciated Skylander in my opinion.
Next Video
Take all that stuff I just rambled off above and you can likely deduce the next video should be up somewhere between Thursday night and Saturday. It will of course be the unboxing and Heroic Challenges.
Local Skylanders Stock
Target
For the first time in a long time, Target had a nice stock pile when I went in...I was all geared up to take the pic and then a lady invaded the frame. I tried to wait her out, but she was diligently combing the entire section of Eruptor, Drobot, and Wrecking Ball likely hoping for a Wave 4 or Wave 5 score. I started to stop her, but she didn't exactly have a friendly demeanor. In fact, I think if I had Warnado in my hand she would have ripped it out...
Toys'R'Us
I have to say, my theory that old Skylanders aren't moving is definitely standing. For the second time ever, I saw Empire of Ice at Toys'R'Us AND for the first time ,more than one of them! They had tons of Darklight Crypt APs, and even a few Legendary Triple Packs, which I do believe had moved a bit.
As for the singles and triples, pretty much everything except for: Dino-Rang, Zap, and Voodood singles...I only think there was one Hex for what that is worth.
It was also the only picture I took, and once again my phone made things blurry, oh well....nothing you haven't seen before:
Oh, and those 8 pegs of Legendary Trigger Happy...Take that and multiply it by about 20 to get the grand total that was sitting in the big bin display that came in 4-6 weeks ago. And to think I didn't unbox my LTH when I got it because I thought it might be hard to come by, lol. Now that I think about it, I bet you 10:1 there are a lot of derogatory comments on that video. Oh well, at the time LTH really was hard to come by...one shipment went out and no one had a clue they'd be overly mass produced like this 6-8 weeks later.

Not much here, but my local store did get Dragon's Peak in Thursday (I was off schedule and had to run in Friday). They also started keeping all the new stuff (Wave 3 and newer) behind the counter. The "used" bags holding noble Skylanders hostages is also picking up, but it mainly tends to be Starter Pack characters, Boomer, and Eruptor.
I did get a great story that the local scalper lady came in and they wouldn't sell to her...at all.

The polls are coming along great, I am glad I let them run so long for these three. I don't really like how the "current" or "hot" item gets a big boost, but it has been a marked issue since the first poll. I will definitely re-issue the "favorite Skylander by element" poll series here in a few months when there won't be hype behind any one character.
I am really interested in the "Who is Your Favorite Skylander" poll which is the latest one. It is currently headed up by Warnado, with Camo and Wham-Shell performing well. I attribute this to the "new" and "hard to get" status of these figures. I like seeing the votes for Voodood or Flameslinger as I know that the folks voting for them are not doing it based on what is currently a big deal. That said, I think it will be up long enough to help balance things out.
The big shocker to me was the last Skylander to get a vote.
I'm sure everyone is thinking Boomer.
WRONG.
Dino-Rang, Hex, Stump Smash, and Boomer all held out with no votes for a few days, but the last to get a vote was Ghost Roaster. I was shocked by that.
I might launch some other polls while these wind down, or I might wait it out till they close...we'll see how it goes.

Wii Fit Plus (Wii): Pretty much a daily ritual, lol
Gold Gym's Cardio (Wii): I want to play every other day, but I've been too busy...it has basically been twice a week. That said, I really enjoy it and aside from having a nightmare of a time getting the "weaves" to register with the Wiimote+Nunchuck combo things are great. I'm really considering recording it, sans commentary (I'd need one heck of a USB extension for the headset)
Professor Layton and the Last Specter (DS): Great game. Puzzles/logic/mystery doesn't float everyone's boat, but I enjoy them as a change of pace and challenge. This game is really enjoyable. I'm up to Chapter 7 at the Golden Garden dig site right now...I planned to play while going to bed, but my battery is down.
Currently Listening (New Section? Perhaps!)
Taylor Swift-Right now as I type and no, I don't care what you think.
Stone Temple Pilots/Theory of a Deadman-Auto Audio (in the car)

Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure Unboxing Triple Pack G: Lightning Rod, Cynder, and Zook
Well a little over a week after ordering, my Lightning Rod/Cynder/Zook Triple Pack from Toys'R'Us.com finally came in the mail. Aside from the slow transit and a corner being bent, all was well. Here is the unboxing:

First off let me say...I really would have preferred singles for Lightning Rod and Zook. I know that is almost the price of the triple pack at non-TRU stores, but it would have made for a better video as I'd have done Lightning Rod and Zook separate...As is, I felt obligated to include Cynder's info, despite unboxing her single pack, because prospective buyers of this Triple Pack will want insights on her as well. That said, if you really want to focus on Cynder, please watch Cynder's Unboxing .
Cynder is the last of the Undead Element to be released following Ghost Roaster, Chop Chop, and Hex. Lightning Rod is the 3rd Air Element to be released coming in the wake of Sonic Boom and Whirlwind and just before Wave 5's Warnado. Zook is also the 3rd Life Element to be released following Stealth Elf and Stump Smash with Wave 5's Camo hot on his heels.

I will close with a little info on Wave 5.
Wave 5 will consist of Camo, Warnado, and Wham-Shell.
Camo is the last of the Life Element Skylanders and will come in both Single Pack and Triple Pack H.
Warnado, who I am really looking forward to, will be the final Air Element Skylander and can be found in both Single Pack and Triple Pack H.
Wham-Shell is the last man standing if you will and as best I know will only come in single pack format. He will be the final Water Element Skylander and the last Skylander to be released for Spyro's Adventure.
Triple Pack H will feature Camo, Warnado, and Ignitor (who has been out since Day 1 in the 3DS Starter Pack and as a quite hard to find Wave 4 Single Pack).
As of this posting, Warnado and Camo are being found in the US at Walmart and a few GameStops. I imagine Toys'R'Us and Amazon will get them soon. Wham-Shell, as of right now, has only been found in Australia and a few have found a crystal/clear variant of him.
Conclusion
I am currently looking for the final three Skylanders and will naturally unbox them, introduce them, and record their Heroic Challenges as soon as possible.
I am hoping to try out Lightning Rod and Zook early this week...I'll record when that happens.

First off let me say...I really would have preferred singles for Lightning Rod and Zook. I know that is almost the price of the triple pack at non-TRU stores, but it would have made for a better video as I'd have done Lightning Rod and Zook separate...As is, I felt obligated to include Cynder's info, despite unboxing her single pack, because prospective buyers of this Triple Pack will want insights on her as well. That said, if you really want to focus on Cynder, please watch Cynder's Unboxing .
Cynder is the last of the Undead Element to be released following Ghost Roaster, Chop Chop, and Hex. Lightning Rod is the 3rd Air Element to be released coming in the wake of Sonic Boom and Whirlwind and just before Wave 5's Warnado. Zook is also the 3rd Life Element to be released following Stealth Elf and Stump Smash with Wave 5's Camo hot on his heels.

Weekly Update 4/5/2012: Skylanders and Scalpers: Case Solved
Well, another week...another Skylanders hunt.
#Streetpassing
First off, let me say I don't know if that is used by anyone else on Twitter, but I plan to start making use of it...Sadly in my #streetpassing attempts tonight I came up empty. I could really use a light blue shirted Mii right now. I guess I"ll keep trying until other people realize they need to drive the streets with their 3DS in sleep mode to land some Street Pass Tags.
Nintendo Week
Well, there was no pleasant surprise here. I clicked on the Nintendo Channel to find some new vids on Mario Tennis Open and nothing from Nintendo Week. I really enjoyed the show and think they would be wise to bring it back in some form, perhaps how I mentioned it in last week's update post.
Skylanders Hunt
First stop was Target...they had a lot of the same ol' stuff: Eruptor, Boomer, Wrecking Ball, Stealth Elf, Drobot etc. Nothing new at all.
Toys'R'Us on the other hand...they were once more well stocked. I saw every Triple Pack with the exception of the newest one (Lightning Rod/Cynder/Zook).
There were still more Legendary Trigger Happy singles than anyone knows what to do with and I'm sure the back is overflowing with them as well.
The real kicker here was the Adventure Packs. They had ALL ADVENTURE PACKS IN STOCK. This marked the very first time I had seen Empire of Ice at Toys'R'Us and the second time I have seen it locally (the first being last week when GameStop just had a shipment...with one of them):
And keep in mind, this is right after I ordered Empire of Ice for my friend 2 weekends ago AND got Dragon's Peak from TRU online 3/25, with it arriving on Monday. However, there were 3 Dragon's Peaks in the store. They are still not really getting to cash in on the "exclusive window." This was the first time I actually saw DP for sale and not being held for someone etc.
Blue Bash
As I talked with an employee I learned that I did get pretty lucky with that "Blue Bash raincheck." Keep in mind my store got 12 of them last Sunday (some stores had 6, most had 12, a few reported 18, and some of you with employees holding stock back for themselves would have seen numbers not divisible by 6). What I learned was that my store was allowed to issue 15 rainchecks. That would total 27 Blue Bashes allocated to our store. I don't know if that would be nation wide (US), or applicable based on sales/population numbers etc, but it is what it is. That makes me feel pretty lucky getting the raincheck, although I still have no guarantee the figure will get produced, lol.
Walmart had Drobot, Eruptor, a stashed Boomer, and maybe a few Wrecking Balls.
GameStop wasv very well stocked with singles and Triples, basically Wave 2 and earlier. I did see a few "used" figures in plastic bags hanging behind the counter...they were all Boomers...poor guy. What do people have against a troll that has a penchant for blowing stuff up?

Now it is time for my awesome purchase...I shelled out around $30 to land this and I think it was well worth it:
Yeah, Professor Layton and the Last Spectre. Skylanders? No, but I am looking forward to it. This is the prequel to the series and I figured I would just get it first. I like to go chronologically, but The Curious Village will be a pain to find and almost assuredly have to come used to avoid paying some crazy price for a game that should be $15 new, so I opted to just start here. This should be the most refined game in the series, so if I like it I can hunt for Curious Village, if I don't, I can't just assume I can live without the others.
This isn't really something I'd typically see myself playing, but I like to change things up a bit. I got Mystery Case Files: The Malgrave Incident for the same reason and really liked it, even thought it was a bit quirky and I had no freakin' clue what I was supposed to do half the time (that putty knife serving as an ice scraper still gets me).
But for those who care, Unwound Future can be sourced pretty much anywhere for around $19 and I spotted the Diabolical Box for $15 at TRU. This would be one of those, buy one get one half off deals that you could really score a sweet bargain on...
I think I'll enjoy the game, and I wanted to play tonight, but I am beat...I'm sure I'll get in bed and turn it on though.
Scalpers
Oh, and you remembered seeing "Scalpers: Case Solved" in the title and wondered where it was...well here you go.
As some of you know, Wave 5 is here...and no, this is not an April Fool's Joke. Camo and Warnado (who I am looking forward to playing) have both been seen across the US and are of course making their way to ebay.
Wham-Shell has been spotted in Australia, along with a pretty sweet looking clear variant (I told folks they wouldn't be done with Blue Bash).
Anyway, one of the first ebay listings was in my town (see, I don't make up the ebay pirate stuff for the heck of it...it is true). I first heard of the "lady and her friends" raiding GameStops every morning at opening...then at shipment times from a manager this fall.
It became such an issue at my local TRU that they imposed the "One per Customer" limits.
Walmart has not done anything and you can tell...note that it is the only place that I only seem to find Eruptor/Boomer/Drobot...you know, the ones that scalpers can't make much money on anymore.
Well, as I was talking with an employee at TRU I was told the story on our local limits. A guy was coming in and cleaning the shelf, much like many of you have seen at Walmart. He did this regularly AND he had a track record of doing it (how about 28 Wiis back when they were super popular and almost impossible to get a hold of locally).
One day the store employees and manager told him he couldn't buy it all, just one of each...he got mad and wrote a letter to corporate. Corporate investigated and when they heard why they did it and saw the transaction history, they agreed with the local store and sent the guy a similar letter.
Well, guess where his wife works? If you said Walmart, you are correct!
That means, that she opens the cases in the back...pulls what she wants, knows that the other stores stocking Skylanders will have the same shipment, sends someone over there, or has an associate hold them for her, and then she and her husband list everything on ebay to make a killing.
I've said before, if a store gets something in that an employee wants, I'm all for them holding it back and buying it. If this lady was a huge fan, sure...take the first Camo and Warnado. The thing is, she takes them all every time! If Drobot would fetch more than $9 on ebay I know he wouldn't be on the shelf at Walmart.
And keep in mind right now it is Walmart that is the place getting the Wave 5 Skylanders. So, where I run in and find Drobot, you might head in and find Camo and Warnado. I'm not a huge Walmart fan and knowing that an ebay pirate works there, takes advantage of the system, and does it for huge profits from those afar and at the expense of local players, I'm pretty ticked. Like I said, if they get 2 shipments a week and she is the "First" to get the new stuff, fine...enjoy it...I'd like some perk if I worked at Walmat too. But to literally have this job just to advance your second, and probably more lucrative job, is pretty sad.
This is why I NEVER buy from scalpers and refuse to pay over retail for anything.
With that said, I know some of you face similar situations with your Walmart, Target, GameStop, or Toys'R'Us. However, you can take solstice in my recent research findings. GameStop.com has added the LRod/Cynder/Zook Triple Pack as well as Camo and Warnado to their website. The "Add to Cart" buttons lit up today, but they come up as an error when you click them, nonetheless that means they will soon have the Wave 4 and 5 Skylanders up for grab:
Well, that wraps it up for this week. If TRU shipped by UPS I would have the Lightning Rod Triple Pack today, but since they stick it with the post office I'll likely see it Monday.
